dota 2 is on source 2(meaning it runs under it the official build is not). I think at least l4d2 ,tf2 and csgo are being brought over. as for games i think they may reveal a new game to show of source 2 but i could be mistaken. valve is working a-lot more now on enabling other developers and community members to make good games.
I don't think you realize that since there's literally no way to enforce restriction on mod piracy in the workshop, that someone could steal your mod or even parts of your mod and there's pretty much nothing valve can do about it.
Essentially people would be making money that should've been yours. Stealing. It's going to be hard enough to make a substantial amount of money on the workshop as it is, considering how many people are against the idea of monetized mods.
We will have to wait for morrowind paid mods then, and god forbid that happen
People will shove their heads up their asses and spin if someone touches "muh childhood gaems"
I cant wait for this thing to be done and for people so see they were overreacting. valve introduces new things then tweaks them over time it will be fixed
you may be right. My comment did not help the situation at all and for that i am sorry. Please continue to call me out on stupid **** i do. i give you a thumb and hope you have a good day. and please do call me out on ****
am i the only one who is starting to get tired of this?
steam is run by a business, businesses exist to make money.
as this reflects badly on them payed mods will likely go away eventually. or at least have its policy changed.
this is not the first time they have done ****** things for money i don't know why everyone is reacting so strongly to this alone,
people have little right to get mad as the primary victims of this are the mod creators themselves.
Valve tried something new, people didn't like it. It happens to all major companies. We see them as a god compared to companies like EA and Ubisoft, but they are all companies. Their main goal is to make money. They aren't some nonprofit like HumbleBundle. To survive, they need revenue, and they will probably change it if people keep putting up fuss.
If you hate Workshop so much, then don't use it. Nexus is just as good and the community is way better. Valve isn't forcing you to use it like when Youtube forces everyone to use Google+
yeah, but if evey author switches to Workshop (even because of fear of having their files stolen) what else will reamin on Nexus? Tiddies? I like tiddies, but I also like enbs, more weps, armors, animations ,behaviors, new quests etc. Depite the fact I understand and respect modders urge to earn money, I despise vision of modding skyrim without having a possibility to test my mods firstly (actually it should be added if it hadn't been already). I hate how Valve is unprepared for this situation (refunds to steam wallet? **** you. no quality control? they ask players to watch over new mods?!?! pathetic). Have you ever modded skyrim with like 25+ mods. It may be buggy as hell and painful to run and imagine you wasted like over 10 euros, because your mods exclude each other. **** this. Maybe they should provide some quality control if they want to charge for mods now. I am really wondering whether there are already complains about mods not working/bugging gameplay etc.
however if modders want to earn money we should totally be ok with this. I've seen some stupid dickhead shouting "mods belong to community", what a ******** . Mods belongs to authors, therefore they decide.
But if they switch to Workshop, then for most modders, they are breaking going against their values of making the game more fun for everyone.
Personally, I think valve just made mods into DLC. The true modders will keep their content free
This is getting pretty childish...
They made a bad deal. We get it. They got their terrible feedback and innocent people unnecessarily got threatened by anonymous douchebags.
Can we move on and see this will change nothing?
And people will go back to being their worshippers in the next sale and forget all about these posts and "hate".
