Hopsin is great, but yeah his new album is dissapointing, aside from the songs Fly, Mr.Jones and Ramona. His past 2 albums still make him one of my favourite rappers though. Also, if you like Hopsins style, check out Locksmith's new album Lofty Goals.

probably because hes one of the few rappers that puts effort into his lyrics instead of spouting random nonsense to a catchy beat. that's whats trending nowadays. its kinda sad how ****** rap has gotten.

He was better on drugs.
User avatar #46 to #23 - samxdaxman (08/05/2015) [-]
His music was better when he was on drugs, but I'd rather him be off the drugs and making slightly less good music. I might not like Em like I used to, and I certainly don't like Recovery or the MMLP2, but he is a key figure in rap, and if he kept using drugs, he would have most certainly died now.
User avatar #128 to #46 - angelious (08/05/2015) [-]
his latest **** has been really ******* great tho.

las vegas, rap god, kings never die. that **** is good.
User avatar #129 to #128 - samxdaxman (08/05/2015) [-]
Watsky- Show Goes On (Lupe Fiasco mini-mix) Haven't heard Las Vegas or Kings Never Die, but I have heard Rap God. And while I'll admit it is a good song, I really doubt it makes him a better speed rapper than say, Tech N9ne, Busta Rhymes or even Watsky. I don't understand the massive hype behind it, other than the fact it's Eminem.

And even if his most recent stuff is still good, I still think he's past his prime. His first few albums absolutely crush anything he's put out recently.
User avatar #130 to #129 - angelious (08/05/2015) [-]
they actually did a comparison of rap god versus tech nine busta and someone i cant recall.

em won with just 15 or so words sang in the given time (wich i think was 1.30 minutes or so)

but besides that. that song was old school em. it has the playful lyrics, the cocky style, everything that made eminem what he is today.

las vegas. its even MORE closer to his slim shady days. i really recommend listening to it. kings never die is more along the lines of his never stuff like not afraid. but its still awesome to listen. same with the other song that came out that i cant actually recall.
User avatar #131 to #130 - samxdaxman (08/05/2015) [-]
Yeah I've seen that video. And I really don't wanna be too picky, but I just don't believe it. The fastest part of Rap God(I'm not even gonna go into the fact that the first line of it is literally "uh, summa lumma dumma" or some **** like that), it just doesn't seem as fast as people like Busta and Tech who I need to listen to multiple times just to get it. It only took me like 3 tries to understand what Em was saying. I don't think they're wrong, I think it was just a case of a bias towards Em.

And I did enjoy the song, it is dope. That doesn't mean I can't critique it. It is very old school Em. I just don't understand the massive hype it has.
User avatar #132 to #131 - angelious (08/05/2015) [-]
eminem has pretty clear way of speaking imo.dunno what causes it but even i,a foreigner have been able to understand his lyrics a lot easier than techs or bustas.

Is Eminem really a Rap God? Speed Test! Busta Rhymes, Tech N9ne, Twista, Young Blaze also here is the comparison video. imo i think busta is the fastest-

outside of that. its not really the speed that is the only good thing about it. its also his rap. its just so good.and as i said. despite being fast as **** rapping. you can still make out easily what he is saying.
User avatar #133 to #132 - samxdaxman (08/05/2015) [-]
It's not like Tech and Busta stumble over their words, it's just the way they speak is so fast that it's hard to keep up. And yeah he is a incredible rapper, anyone who says he isn't is just a hipster faggot. I just don't believe he's the GOAT.
User avatar #134 to #133 - angelious (08/05/2015) [-]
a lot of rappers actually consider him to be the best there is. and i really agree with them. and its not that i said busta or tech stumble. its just that their way of speaking isnt as clear as eminems. when he speaks. no matter how fast. you will always be able to understand it. tech and busta. even when they arent speaking as fast as eminem their words tend to "blur" and its just harder to follow it.

but again. to each his own. i wont try to change your mind since you obviously have done your research instead of speaking out of ignorance. and i respect your decision even tho it doesnt really line with mine.
User avatar #136 to #134 - samxdaxman (08/05/2015) [-]
And yeah, my idols like Tech N9ne and all, they think he's the greatest, and I can see why. Nobody can say that Eminem doesn't deserve one of the top spots in hip hop. He's just not one of my personal favorites.

And I respect your decision as well, and you might be right about em being the greatest. I simply enjoy the mindfulness of Aesop Rock, the speed of Tech N9ne, and the sincerity of Atmosphere more.
User avatar #137 to #136 - angelious (08/05/2015) [-]
well yes. i personally considered jay z to be the greatest rapper out there for a long ass time after hearing about his records in sales and stuff..but i changed my opinion after seeing a couple of videos talking about em and the effects he has had on rapping..

and i do love tech nine. he has awesome lyrics. nearly on par with people like busta or tech,he has clear voice(it tends to blur easily when he speeds things up a tad but when he is just chilling and rapping its clear) and he really puts the right amount of emotion into his songs.

another one i like is busta. he is like eminem in a lot of aspects and really brings in the heat in his raps.

Pretty much anything that isn't on Encore or during the time period in the late 2000's where he really struggled with drugs, all of his songs are well written with impeccable rhyme schemes and creativity. There are even some good songs on Encore

I actually like Eminem for the fact that he can say nearly anything and get away with it, and usually isn't afraid to say anything. His attitude of being a loose cannon has actually skyrocketed him to where he is now, and the idea that he's a nearly impervious **** talker just excites me.

I've heard all his music and I like most of it, there just seems to be this huge misconception that he's "Not Like other rappers" usually held by people who don't LISTEN to any other rappers in an attempt to distance themselves from the negative stigma attached to rap.

Kendrick off the top of my head
User avatar #155 to #154 - mrnaanbread (08/06/2015) [-]
well lets tally it up:

flow - tech
delivery - debatable
lyrics - debatable, tech is much more technical
performance - tech
influence - debatable, kendrick has affected the masses more noticeably

theres really no case for kendrick to be themost skilled of all time. and for reference people dont think of the worlds greatest anything 'off the top of their head'
User avatar #156 to #155 - bladeboy (08/06/2015) [-]
>Kendrick has a way more diverse flow, he changes it up in songs all the time
>Once again, Kendrick has many different forms of delivery
>Lyrics don't mean **** if they're literally all the same thing, Tech just talks about how crazy he is and how much the game currently sucks. He also is one of the rappers that just tries to stuff a bunch of words that rhyme together. Kendrick actually tells stories about his life and experiences that an average black kid would face in the hood. People actually relate to him.
>I don't even know what you're trying to get at for this one
>Kendrick has had a massive impact on todays rap game, mostly with getting people to appreciate it, tech has inspired people like Hopsin lol

I can't believe you're actually trying to argue that Tech is better than Kendrick, do you actually listen to other rap artists?
User avatar #157 to #156 - mrnaanbread (08/06/2015) [-]
here we go...
if you think kendrick has a more diverse flow than tech n9ne, you either have heard next to none of his music or dont actually know what flow is.
so does tech n9ne, and every rapper.
thats a load of rubbish and again makes it seem like youre going by what youve heard from other people.
thats ridiculous since we're both discussing not just me.
tech has the most successful indie record label in the world, actually did a massive amount of promotion for young kendrick, has influenced people from the likes of ice-t to eminem (there are interviews as proof, is incredibly highly spoke of by his peers and has been in the game for more than a decade longer than kendrick. kendrick has had a big effect on todays listeners, but has only been relevant long enough to be considered a rising star and by no means as massive as youre making out.
the hypocrisy of that statement is almost laughable.

the childish way youre promoting a relative newcomer makes it sound like you dont listen to a whole lot else or have only recently got into hip hop
User avatar #158 to #157 - bladeboy (08/06/2015) [-]
Saying that Kendrick is an up and comer is ignoring his past. He's been pretty huge since 2012, and has reached new levels in 2014 and 2015. I actually did listen to tech n9ne when I was an edgy 13 year old that hated the world. That stopped when I realized how low his quality of work was compared to other rappers in the game. He's decent if you're into that whole angry rap thing but I can't take you seriously when you say he's the most skilled rapper there is.
User avatar #159 to #158 - mrnaanbread (08/06/2015) [-]
so basically you listened to a few select songs and based your entire opinion of tech n9ne on those. and yes kendrick would be considered a newcomer, if youve been working for 10 years to be famous and have only become famous in the last two or three years, guess what, that makes you a relative newcomer. and even if tech didnt exist, kendrick (again, a newcomer) hasnt had half the influence that nas has, and is nowhere near as technical as eminem. you have absolutely no case that kendrick is the most skilled ever short of 'hes been well known for a few years and erm...has good morals?'
User avatar #161 to #159 - bladeboy (08/06/2015) [-]
I said Kendrick is better than Tech, not that he's GOAT. Kendricks been in the game since at least 2009 when he was with Black Hippies, dudes not new.
User avatar #162 to #161 - mrnaanbread (08/06/2015) [-]
well whatever, good for you
#109 to #88 - refaim (08/05/2015) [-]
I don't know about that. He's got a stupid fast flow I'll grant you but most skilled. That might have to go to someone like jay elec.
User avatar #110 to #109 - mrnaanbread (08/05/2015) [-]
im sorry what? sure theres no way to know who has the most skill because its subjective, but at least tech is a very strong candidate. jay electonica though? come on how can you call him even close to the most skilled
#113 to #110 - refaim (08/05/2015) [-]
I think we have differing opinions on what skill is when it comes to rap. I don't equate speed with skill. Rapping skill, in my eyes, is all about word play, and I haven't heard anybody beat out JE's wordplay. (lupe comes close)
User avatar #114 to #113 - mrnaanbread (08/05/2015) [-]
contrary to popular belief, tech rarely does fast songs, he just does them well so they are what most know him for. id definitely put him in the top 10 for todays lyricists. tbh i havent heard enough of jay elec to comment but for wordplay eminem reigns supreme. just count the metaphors in the intro to shady xv (not a great album, but lyrically eminem is still absolutely untouchable)
#92 to #88 - anon (08/05/2015) [-]
I hate when people say **** like "he is the most (...) rapper there is." Have you any idea how man rappers are out there that you haven't even heard of? There's gonna be a few that are better then the best you ever heard. Check out K-rino op Chino XL for example, most people don't even know that type of rap exists
User avatar #93 to #92 - mrnaanbread (08/05/2015) [-]
well since i have heard everything chino and rino have done and then nearly every good rapper you could name plus many bad ones perhaps it could be said that im in a position to say that. sure if id only ever heard techs music thatd be a dumb thing to say

Drake,Yung Lean, Nas, 1999-2009 Eminem, J Cole, Childish Gambino would probably be good for you because you seem to only like the meme rappers, Asap Rocky and Ferg, Kendrick Lamar, Dr Dre's Chronic is a must listen, Lil B is good for some people not so good for others, Run DMC, Beastie Boys, Nas, Literally anything by Kanye West, Chance The Rapper, Danny Brown, Common, Earl Sweatshirt

Lil B.... no.

Beastie... and you're talking to me about meme rappers...
Nas is starting, but I don't like the flow.
Kanye is a real ***** , but that voice is a turn off.

¡MAYDAY! - Fuel To The Fire Huh. I normally don't listen to songs like this at all. It sounds kinda pop-ish, which I normally can't stand, but this is pretty cool. He does have a really cool sounds that sets him apart though. Thanks man.

My turn. Ever heard of ¡MAYDAY! ? They're a band signed to Tech N9ne's label, Strange Music Inc. and they're probably one of my favorite hip hop bands ever. All of their songs are so diverse and epic it's insane.
User avatar #56 to #55 - werito (08/05/2015) [-]
Yeah, he definitely is a softer sound to what you've got listed, and yeah, I understand the pop feel you get from him. Somethin you could listen to when you want to take it easy, yknow?

I've never heard of em, but judging from this song I'm definitely taking a deeper plunge. Thanks, bud

Yeah, he's a bit different from Aes hahaha. No problem man, always good to discover some new songs.

AGREEMENT: This is one meatbag that has always deserved my respect. The complexity and performance is of a somewhat greater level, exceeding other meatbags.

ADVISEMENT: One would agree that it is best if you find yourself a cigar, meatbag, and spend a few moments thinking over how awesome you are, as a former master would once say.
