I was really expecting some ****** way for rick to escape the space prison
in the end credits, but damn I was surprised. That's what makes Rick and Morty different.
things don't go back to normal at the end of every epsode
I think it's more likely that Unity will be the one to break him out. Remember how it said it was going to join the Galactic Federation to consume it from within?
True, but he did die. Like he died all the way to death and then some. He was dead for days. Fury just pulled some magic and scientists and alien blood out of his ass to bring him back to life though, cause Coulson was as valuable to Fury as an Avenger.
I like them both, they are just different. Both bring very different emotions for me. Johnny Cash's version makes me think of an old man reflecting on all his mistakes and regrets while nine inch nails feels like someone who hates who they have become. Plus the notion of start again is quite different between the two, for cash starting again isn't a possibility so its a futile dream while with nine inch nails it is something achievable but impossible because of the way he is.
The funniest part is that Johnny Cash wrote the song for Nine Inch Nails to then later do a cover of it. Its kind of his song, but not legally at the same time.
Wasn't even that he just kinda liked Cash's version better, this entire quote of his really makes you feel for how much it ment to him:
I pop the video in, and wow... Tears welling, silence, goose-bumps... Wow. [I felt like] I just lost my girlfriend, because that song isn't mine anymore... It really made me think about how powerful music is as a medium and art form. I wrote some words and music in my bedroom as a way of staying sane, about a bleak and desperate place I was in, totally isolated and alone. [Somehow] that winds up reinterpreted by a music legend from a radically different era/genre and still retains sincerity and meaning — different, but every bit as pure
I like Cash' version better, but got to admit, the original fits better here.
Johnny Cash' guitar has much warmer tone, while in this version it sounds a bit "darker" in certain riffs. Especially in the 4:47 part
I had to look it up to be sure, but Johnny Cash actually wrote the song for 9 inch nails in 1996, then released his own version of it in 2002. So it's kinnda his song.
1) he didn't know that morty, beth and summer cared so much about him and would stay the rest of their life on that planet just to be with rick
2) that is still the original morty and we all know that he cares about him a lot. by saving his familiy he is also, obviously, saving morty
"you get to do this 3 or f-buuuurp-our times tops!"
also his portal gun was gone, and the reality switching device is in his car, which wasnt with them either
I never liked Morty's dad, but sometimes you can't help but feel bad for him considering all the **** he gets from Beth. He tries so hard to be a good dad to Morty and Summer, but he could at least try to get along with Rick.
everyone says the johnny cash cover is better. and dont get me wrong his cover was the first song i learned to play and sing on guitar but the cover isnt nearly as dissident as the original. it really goes into the occasional "horror scifi" theme of the show and i think the NIN version is a much better choice to put into this episode
I don't know. While Rick is old, he isn't "Johnny Cash" old, as in "I'm gonna die soon". He seems pretty fit and won't be gone soon (at least not due to a natural cause). Both versions are pretty beautiful and both of them would have fitted.
I'd really prefer it if for the season 3 opening they did a cold open at the beginning without a title card and then have the opening sequence. play near the end of the episode, but that's just me.
