I'm pretty sure this one is a troll post. Trolls who don't know what they're doing tend to acknowledge the opposition's argument making it sound reasonable before rejecting it.

Just say no. No one will mock you for saying no except maybe your close friends. The people offering the weed will be happy because now there is more for them.

As a kid because of how much "say no to drugs" and "stop, drop and roll" was taught, I thought drugs and getting caught on fire was going to be a daily thing.

User avatar #65 to #63 - princelaharl (10/03/2015) [-]
i googled it. it comes from tibetan buddhism. you create a mental construct essentially. but you are literally giving yourself a form of schizophrenia. you create an imaginary being and then trick yourself into thinking it is real. there are guides for this **** !

Woah woah woah hold the **** up man.

Now I'm not going to stop you. I've been thinking whether or not I wanted to try it for a while, but that's the thing. I have been thinking about this for a while, this is serious business. This is not to be taken lightly. If you create an additional consciousness in your head, and someday, for any reason want to get rid of that consciousness, well you'll essentially be killing a person.

I'm not going to ask what your ethic opinion would be on killing a consciousness that's inside your own head, but the consensus has been is that it's ****** up.

Anyway, if you're not ******* around, and you most likely are, just do some ******* research first. There is a **** ton of stuff you have to consider before messing around with this stuff.
User avatar #72 to #69 - binuclear (10/03/2015) [-]
I have been thinking about it for a while too. I just didn't know it was called a tulpa. I'm planning on being an EMT so having another conscious with me will probably not be for the best. I used to think about this **** since I was 10. I mean, you only have one life, enjoy it to the fullest while you can. Do anything and everything you can.

I haven't put forth any time to research having another conscious because I thought it to be nigh impossible and too much of a hindrance. I mean, imagine cutting through traffic, weaving through cars after a huge pile up, only to have that second conscious talking and distracting you. Plus what if you make it like your waifu or some **** . You could never have a real relationship.

Plus schizophrenia.

I always imagined I would make like a wolf or something that would follow me around and be like a spirit animal. But that's edgy as hell, even if only I would see it.

How is this different from DID/MPD/Schizophrenia?

"The mental disorders listed above are usually caused by genetics, or by experiencing traumatic events. People with these disorders have symptoms that happen involuntarily, and people with these disorders cannot choose or control their symptoms. Sometimes patients will black out, their place being taken by another personality, without the host having any control over the process. These things don’t happen to people with tulpas. You can choose to listen to your tulpa or ignore them, and you will not black out even if you give them control of your body. You have a great amount of control over how you wish to raise your tulpa, so you will probably end up with someone with a personality you like and enjoy interacting with. The mental disorders listed above are harmful, and will hamper your ability to function; however, tulpas are benign and willful. If you approach the phenomenon correctly, tulpas will improve your life, with their company and friendship."

Let me allay your concerns. While your profession may be something to consider whether or not you want a tulpa in your life, it just as well may not be a reason. And trust me, I find it very difficult to NOT do something if I haven't tried it first.

For one, it isn't impossible, depending on how much you try. People probably often give up because of the creation process, but that never made their original goal impossible. Also on terms of your second consciousness distracting you throughout the day, you actually misunderstand how tulpas work. Tulpas ARE NOT constantly present. Especially when you are still creating your tulpa, there are going to be periods where you won't be interacting with your tulpa at all. I find this to be a good comparison. Imagine you're in your room with another person, you're watching TV, but the other person is reading a book. You two aren't interacting, but that doesn't mean the person no longer exists.

There are times when hosts wish to speak with their tulpas, they have to get their attention first to speak with them, and they may not respond (for whatever reason). So you don't need to worry, there will be times where the tulpa will be out of your way, unless you needed them. Also, provided the tulpa you created, wasn't an asshole, if you didn't want to interact with your tulpa at that time, you could just ask them to leave you alone, just like a real person.

Also it is recommended to not make a tulpa THAT IS a character your fanboying over. This is not to be confused with BASING a tulpa on a character you have in mind. For two reasons. 1. The tulpa will never be the character you wanted, it will be a clone, since it won't BE that character, they probably won't live up to all your expectations, and will also not be happy with the fact that you just want them to be someone they're not. Also that is if you were referring to doing something like that.

If you were just referring to having a very close romantic relationship with a tulpa? That I leave up to the host. For you specifically? I wouldn't recommend it. You obviously intend to live a real life, have a real family, and wouldn't be satisfied with a tulpa, because the relationship wouldn't exist outside your head, and it wouldn't feel right to you. However, that doesn't mean you shouldn't get a tulpa (if you want to), that just means you're not interested in being romantically involved with one.

And on that last one, the physical form and personality of a tulpa is up to the host, because they're really the only ones that will be experiencing it. And there have been all kinds of tulpa representations, regular people, furries (disgust), ghostly figures, or even just simple orbs, comparable to the Navi character from Legend of Zelda. But if you weren't comfortable with doing a certain form, in this case an animal, then don't. You don't want to get stuck with something you'll realize was a mistake. Make it something you'll never get tired of.

Oh one more thing. It being compared to schizophrenia? I'll just leave a quote from a FAQ to explain that, in another comment.

People don't always take it that far. Some people do, like they get involved in SWITCHING with their tulpa, taking their own consciousness into an imaginary dream land while their tulpa uses their body.

And some people just do the basic thing of just having a consciousness in your head. Think Cortana in Halo, or in Deadpool how he had those voices or whatever in his head? (I never actually played Deadpool).

But yeah you can only **** yourself up as far as you let it.
