Love the Rat King cov. in DS2.

Doors of Pharos, I just sit right above where they spawn and drop behind them. Either I kill them instantly or they try to run away but I set every trap in there and let all the mobs loose it's a death house, I'm just sad it only takes like 30 rat tails to get max lvl but all the other covenants get ******* 150-500 max for max.

>Join Pilgrims of Dark
>Play for 20 minutes
>Achieve max rank in Pilgrims of Dark
>Leave

Don't complain, at least you still have something to do when you're done in that covenant.

Step by step process:
1) Go into a dungeon area with like, 5 enemies inside
2) Light a fire
3) leave

You do this three times and then there's a boss fight. You beat the boss and you achieve max rank.

You get Hex's as rewards.

Final spell you get for max rank is Climax *wink*

It takes every soul you have in your possession and uses it to fire a super powered hex missile thingy of death

I just beat the dark covenant myself, last area took me like 12 tries but I got through the others in 1 go which only made me angry and die more.

Finally beat the last area and it throws me into a boss battle which I am completely not prepared for and die instantly.

it was fun while it lasted, but it was very short.

What's the significance of the rat covenant (or any covenant, really)? Some guy summoned me down there. He kept trying to jab at me with his spear or whatever. It was pretty easy to roll past his attacks but whenever I'd get him low, he'd run away and rats would come after me and for some reason they'd ignore him. Is that because he joined the covenant or something?

You poor, poor soul. Not knowing the fun of covenants in dark souls 2. They dont really have a significant impact on the game for the most part (Meaning story and environment of the game) to the best of my knowledge (only about 100+ hours dont know everything about the game) however they are quite fun. PvE covenants are, as the name implies, are associated with PvE. There are only a few in Dark Souls 2. The only covenant in the game that affects the actual game is the Covenant of Champions, which removes the ability to summon people for help and increases the difficulty over all. The Heirs of Sunlight covenant (or the sunbros) are people that devote their time to help out struggling undead with bosses, and are rewarded with sun medals. These can be used to rank up in the covenant and at max rank you are awarded with sunlight spear, a powerful miracle that throws a giant lightning bolt, OF THE SUN! The other covenant is the Pilgrams of the Dark, and its sort of a dungeon run thing. You enter different portals all through out the map and they're basically loot runs, with the last one having a boss at the end. I believe you get hexes for being apart of that covenant. The rest of the Covenants are PvP, and there are quite a few. The Rat King Covenant, is consisted of the servants of the Rat King. They serve the Rat King by summoning invaders of the two sacred places in to their world, and using the enemies there against them, to banish them as a message that going further will result in their demise. Disciples of the Rat King are rewarded with Pharros Lockstones, and Rat Tails used to deepen their allegiance in the covenant. The Rat King Covenant is one of the most fun covenants in the game, and quite popular. There are plenty other covenants as well, and I suggest you discover them for yourself, as they are quite a blast and are a big part of the online experience.

Tl;dr: Rat King people arent aggro'd by mobs because they use them to fight people who are summoned.

that ******* champion covenant is why i couldn't summon anybody god dammit. i had no clue why the **** i couldn't summon anybody for half the game until i switched covenants. i also had no idea it made the game harder. i died a **** ton of times because of my ignorance.

I kinda wanna join the sun one. I remember helping out people with the three sentinel guys. It'd be nice to be rewarded even more for that.
Sorry for being ignorant, friend. I've only been playing DS2 for a little over 15 hours. DS2's also my first game of the series. I only got it because my friend told me it was a little bit like Monster Hunter.
Still sorta proud my first pvp experience was a win, though. **** was SO cash.

Sun covenant gives you sunlight medals for helping people which you use to lvl up in the covenant, that will get you a sword, a shield, and a sunlight spear. The ring you get however increases your miracle power.

The first book published was Redwall, the second was Mattimeo, and the third was Mossflower. After that, they get all over the place (sometimes not even including the titular abbey in the book). The first book isn't amazing, but Mossflower-onwards are fantastic. The biggest problem the first few had was that Jacques wasn't sure how he wanted sizes of various animals in relation to different stuff to work. Like, in the first, the ratio seems similar to real-life ratios, but by Mossflower Martin is able to fight on fairly even terms with the wildcat Tsarmina.

true, i remember trying to re-read redwall and it gets kidna tough in some parts.

it was kind of a weird thing, like in narnia where the smallest animals got bigger and the biggest ones got smaller or something?

overall i really liked the books, but there are some major things that would have made them better

It mostly took him a few books to figure out what he was doing, but once he got it they were pretty magical. No lies, a huge part of my childhood died when he did a few years back.

Also, some of the stories were completely brutal. Like, adult novel brutal (adult in mature sense, not in XXX sense). Martin the Warrior is the main one there which comes to mind.

Jacques had a sort of golden age in the middle, IMO. The first couple books weren't too good, but his more recent ones haven't been too good, either. High Rhulain was tremendously cliché and the battles with the side villains (e.g. Riggu's son and the Slothunog monster thing) were far better than the confrontation with the main one.

I'd say some of his middle ones--while he was still focused on Redwall Abbey and associated characters--were probably his strongest, but there were definitely some later ones which were excellent, such as Rakkety Tam. I've not read the last 3 or 4 that he wrote before his death, though.
