or you know.. we ARE all like that, and thats ok! its stupid and easy to say that "racists" hate entire groups of people cause of their skin color... its a "win-the-argument-free" card in modern "debate" (im using sarcastic quotation marks, cause now a days its pretty much one-sided and if you object you're a Racist, bigot, sexist, mysogenistic, xenophobic trouble maker.. and no point talking to)
my point is.. we're in the right to dislike them
they obviously hate us, as they've shown, time and time again. No one wanted them here in the first place and no one wants them here now.. you might be neutral towards the topic! you may not care they are here.. but that doesn't mean you'd miss them if they left, and if you do why dont you let them live with you? on your couch?
and seriously.. stereotypes exists for a reason.. stop using the "minority" card aswell
Stereotypes do exist for a reason, but they're based on the person with the biggest mouth from any culture. For example, when thinking of white American, most people from outside America jump to one of three stereotypes - Redneck (thanks to media coverage), typical American tourists and their lack of knowledge of foreign countries and or cultures (thanks to those being the Americans most seen by non-Americans) and asshole gun nuts (thanks to mass shootings).
When it comes to blacks, the stereotype that jumps to mind isn't the quiet, hard working salaryman, it's the loud mouthed "hood" character that loots during riots and claims every act against a black person is racism. Again, this is largely because of media coverage.
I mean, the stereotype for my country is either the typical bombardier advert character, shouting tally ho and such, or "yeh ill shank ye mam m8". Both the personalities with the loudest mouth, so to speak.
bitchin bitchin, what im gettin from this is that we are basically almost over "hump day" and the "weekends" coming around. Recently i have been coming on funnyjunk and thinking "god i hate this site" but i always come back anyway. maybe it wont be miserable at the same time soon.
its one of the reasons i've stopped coming here so much. there's no facts, no logic, its just whining, then whining about the whining, then whining about the whining about the whining. its really autistic and i'm really ******* done with this website
But there is a clear problem with basketball Americans in the US...
And they are morbidly obese, whale-like fat...
And it's a "religion of peace" with fine print. By which is meant under Allah, as in a totalitarian world-wide theocracy under enforced sharia law, where dissent is met by the sword.
We've reached an age where reality is becoming more and more taboo if it hurts teh feelings.
Yes, but Christianity and Judaism (or at least the majority of the people who believe in them) have become more civilised and accepting of other cultures. The times when people were killed solely because they weren't Christian or Jewish have (for the most part) passed.
Sure you still get pricks like the Westboro Baptist Church (and I'm sure Jews have their own equivalent) who don't want to accept other people and believe that anyone who is opposed to their believe is a heretic that must be purged, but these groups are so small and do so little that they largely go unnoticed when compared to groups such as ISIS.
And bit by bit, laws based on religion are getting pushed out. Ireland, a largely Catholic country, now allows gay marriage.
With Islam it's different. You have entire nations run with the religion used as law. Nations who still, in the 21st Century, attack other nations in the name of religion.
Honestly, I don't even know if the people in charge even believe in what they preach, or just use Islam as a tool to control the masses.
It is a religion of peace. It's just taught and used wrong.
First of all, not all majority-Islamic countries are places of extremism and suffering, there have been many of the these countries that have elected female presidents / prime-ministers (more than USA ;). I chatted to some chick who cycled through Iran with her bf and she said they were the nicest people she had ever met.
Many people would argue that the United States invades countries in the name of Christianity. George W Bush said that God told him to invade Iraq (yes, he said this). ISIS isn't a purely religious entity, they lust for power, land and wealth as well.
I don't have time to go into this in detail, but Islam is represented in a very one-sided manner by Western media. For example, Atheists who cite WBC as Christians... they're clearly not normal Christians but they are in the news giving Christians a bad name. See my point?
"ISIS isn't a purely religious entity, they lust for power, land and wealth as well."
Except that under Islam, these are religious motives, as long at its for the expansion of Islam. That's what caliphates are all about. Christianity doesn't have such an inherent worldly motive, that started with Constantine I.
I just have 1 problem with what you say. I understand that the media controls our perception of Islam. But here's the thing. As much as Muslims can be nice people, it doesn't change the fact that there are far more Muslim extremists than other religions, and they are far more extreme in their extremism if that makes sense.
"ISIS isn't a purely religious entity, they lust for power, land and wealth as well. "
ISIS may be in it for the land and power, but religion is their excuse. They are the Islamic State group. These people don't care about religion. It's simply a tool. Like I said in my first comment they use Islam as a tool.
You missed the point, neither Judaism nor Christianity ever claimed to be a religion of peace.
Meanwhile, I've met many Muslims(comes with my line of work) who claim the word Islam comes from “al-Salaam”, or peace, when it comes from Al-Silm, or submission(in the religious sense, under a god), to the point where I consider it "kitman", given that they consider the Quran the word of god, and that there are many verses in the Quran propagating this world-wide theocracy.
The funny thing is, even tough this is a popular opinion I think you you're using this meme correctly. I've seen too many comments on blatantly racist posts defending it by saying "We're just being funny, but the people at *insert site* are the ones who are serious". Which is an equally common defense people at sites like tumblr use to justify their racism/sexism/etc. but an unsettling number of people don't want to acknowledge that and some of them even get pretty upset when you try to point it out.
So yeah, you found an opinion that is popular but a lot of people don't want to acknowledge it, making it kind of unpopular.
>I've seen too many comments on blatantly racist posts defending it by saying "We're
>just being funny, but the people at *insert site* are the ones who are serious". Which is
>an equally common defense people at sites like tumblr use to justify their
>racism/sexism/etc.
are you seriously implying people are racist/wrong for posting and/or laughing at racist jokes?
screw it, let's censor jokes about racism because they hurt a few peoples feelings. and jokes about sexism for hurting a few other peoples feelings. and jokes about religion for hurting a few more peoples feelings.
with comedy either everything is fair game, or everything is off limits. in the end the viewer is the one who decides how they respond to a joke, and if a person doesn't find it funny, then the joke wasn't aimed at that person in the first place.
No, ******* . He's saying there's a difference between "what do you call 100 black guys buried up to their necks?" "Afro-turf!" and "The United States would be better as a whole if we killed all of the ******* in our country"
We have our own little population of stormtroopers that **** up comment and flood their jaypeg diarrhea a little too often. When you disagree with them the 13 year old anon ***** come out the woodworks screaming CUCK CUCK GOYIUM etc. If I wanted Autism speaks I'd go to /pol/.
I'm glad someone finally ******* said something. I'm not sure if people at FJ are coming from /pol/ and the like, or if people on Fj are just being heavily influenced by it. Either way whenever I debate them it usually ends up with them spouting off their ideas without anything backing it up.
Over time I have found that I am not racist, I just hate everybody. But not in like an emo "life sucks" sort of way just that people in general tend to have some terrible qualities in general. But we all have our faults so mixed in with that hatred is love, and if you show some good personality traits at the very least I will respect you.
That's not racism. And don't let any witch-hunting ******** who are destroying the meaning of the word tell you otherwise. Racism is harmful prejudice against people of a particular race. Calling someone a ****** in that context has nothing to do with racism. You aren't earnestly hating on any ethnic group. You aren't denying anyone rights. You are treating them equally. I call many things ******* such as my friends and inanimate objects. You can spout any kind of racist bigotry you want but at the end of day if you treat them fairly(That is essential_) then you are not racist. Personally... in Australia with all my experiences with aboriginals... there have probably only been 2 or 3 encounters(Out of, say... 30-50) that weren't aggressive or unpleasant. I don't ever trust them. But I don't act aggressively, negatively or recessively until I understand that individual.
Yep, just replace black with white, women with men, and trans with cis and you pretty much go from FJ to Tubmlr, two sites that have funny content constantly interrupted by sheltered cirlcjerks and blatant sexism/racism
Babe, it's BEEN lahk tumblr.
I've been to both, and it's always the same thang:
"You don't like what I like, that means you're autistic!"
"I hate a group, let me whine about it for months and not mind my own business!"
"If I ignore (X), then (X) is going to take over (Y)"
"Wow what a wonderful and inspirational comment, I'm going to follow through with it" Starts *********** again 5 minutes later
"This world is a horrible place" typed from a 400$ computer on a broadband connection
in a comfy air-conned house
But you know what?
Despite it all, ah love err'body that don't hate me. I can see the good an' the bad,
but I rather think about the good in all of ya'll. But the truth is, nobody ain't so differn't as they think.
That third one sounds like me. And honestly I'm ok with that. I know who I am, and where I stand, and I honestly believe people should discuss their own views and the views of their opposition. Do I wish the discussion of the opposing viewpoint was more than "lol, look at this retard?" Yes. Do I sometimes do that myself? Yeah, I'm human. I try to be better than that, but I'm not perfect. But I never have and never will believe that ignoring or silencing an opposing viewpoint is a good thing.
I find and openly consider opposing viewpoints. If there's a logical reasoning behind them, and they hold up with my moral values, I will change my opinion. There are plenty of tumblrinas actively refusing to do that.
Here's one where they don't want to see any dissenting opinions in "their" tag: wtfsocialjustice.tumblr.com/post/122133007903/i-would-really-really-appreciate-it-if-you-could
Pic related is one insisting their BS headcanon is true.
I could find countless more examples.
They make any possible attempt to shut down dissenting opinions.
I argue for dissenting opinions to be spread. And not just in the light of "ha, look at this idiot," or, "this is problematic and needs to be stopped." You should seriously consider what they have to say, then if it hasn't already been expressed, share your own opinion. Open discussion of controversial topics is a good thing.
I'm just rambling, so this might be a run-on sentence.
I don't fully understand what's up, but like, I used to come here a few years back and everyone was making racist jokes all the time. I took this place as being relatively "hardened". I mean, I'm a fat piece of **** , and I'm a brony, and I probably have Asperger's or some **** . I see people making those kind of jokes, and I don't give a damn. I still laugh. I feel like the difference between being racist and being funny is your intention. Sometimes I see comments that try so hard to be edgy or whatever. That's not funny. It's boring. If you ramble to me about how you want to hang black people and burn them, that's also just being racist. I don't know. I've just noticed people EVERYWHERE have been getting really sensitive. The only thing that offends me is a personal attack. If some stranger on FJ gave me **** , that's not going to bother me because we don't have a connection. What bothers me is when like, a friend says **** to me (they'd probably be a **** friend anyway). Maybe I'm just an asshole or something. Maybe I'm just not sympathetic enough. You could send me a picture of Fluttershy being slaughtered and I wouldn't really cry about it. I would be a bit disgusted, but, whatever.
People call this site /pol/ jr.
People call this site tumblr part 2.
I honestly just want us to be different than those sites and find humor in everything.
Make fun of whites, blacks, Asians, and all.
No one getting super defensive over one side.
No one whining "go back to /pol/" or "go back to tumblr".
Can't we just take the high ground and realize both places are **** and just live by the first part of our site's name?
Maybe it's easy for me to say this since it takes a lot to offend me and I don't have bitch in my genes.
Yeah but racist jokes have a time and a place and the userbase reflects that.
Racist jokes aren't good on say, a post with no nignogs in it. Or a feels post about a black man. That's just in bad taste, is all.
Racist jokes are good in content about africa or general discussions of africa, or even just funny posts about a minority in general.
I can find humor in everything, but I just mentally cringe when I see an anon making a racist joke about a guy who lost his whole family. It's like fart jokes at a fancy dinner party.
Well you gotta understand the average age of FJ users is probably like 17.2 years old. A lot of people here are still kids who haven't learned social graces yet. And then there's the grown ass adults who haven't learned social graces but that's a whole different category.
I understand that but that doesn't give them the right to not be subjected to criticism for it.
They are entitled to do as they want. It's their right to say what they want. Likewise, I and other users have the right to call them out on their ******** .
Nah I totally agree, part of learning not to be a ******** waste to society is being criticized for being stupid/an asshole/etc. I'm just saying, don't let it make you think that the site is full of degenerates and rejects. There's certainly our fair share of them, but mostly I really think it's just kids.
We should all live by the sticks and stones philosophy. Everyone can say anything they want. If it makes you angry do some pushups or something. That should fix both problems...
I have extreme views on several political subjects. If I am not allowed to express these thoughts/ideas, there is no such thing as free speech. "Hate speech" is a term that was invented to make censorship on certain subjects OK. I will fight censorship until the day I day: it's not because you threaten people into shutting up that their opinions change, in contrary, they'll get more frustrated and more extreme in their thinking.
If you censor someone, they'll never get to say what they think. Their ideas will never get challenged by anyone. They'll grow convinced that what they think is correct because "I have never heard an argument that I couldn't counter". Easy, if you never get to hear any arguments from someone with different ideas.
FJ could greatly benefit from removing thumbs from the comment section. I never bother with voicing "unpopular opinions" because I know that all it takes is one red thumb to make such a comment disappear to page two and there it will never be read again. The only comments that will be read are the ones with popular opinions. You know how they call that? A hugbox.
So stop being a little bitch and explain to people why you think they are wrong. Who knows, you might convince someone and prevent some guy from shooting up a church.
(If you're not being sarcastic) There was a popular channel in the previous weeks called "Fatpeoplehate" and there is an entire comp called "Rage comps", both of which were super popular. I wouldn't mind so much if it was jokes, but the comment sections were just full of people talking about killing people, and talking about how much they hate disgusting fat people.
"Yo mama so fat she gave Dracula diabetes" is funny, it's a joke, things like that is fine.
"Disgusting fatty needs to die" isn't really right...
Uberfats are a blight. They're draining the labored medical system, they don't work, they coast off welfare, and they pass it onto their kids. People can live with that, even, but now they're running around as much as their squashed little legs and rascal scooters can allow them shouting how obesity has no harmful effects on the body and that everyone else is the problem.
It's one thing to be a deluded hemorrhage on the state, it's another to claim that you aren't and everyone else needs to change to suit you. That's why the anti-obesity backlash is happening.
So much this.
Just yesterday I made a comment likening ******* to chimps.
You know, like we do.
At least 2 guys called me a racist **** and the OP deleted my comment.
mfw
I saw two exactly opposite posts yesterday, both of which could have inspired a racist ********* . Only thing is, there was one filled with comments about how FJ is turning into /pol/ in some ways, and the other was full of **** you'd get on /pol/.
nah...we just grew up. Ive been on this site since like '04. i havent changed ideals...whats funny, i make black jokes in person...but im not a racist online. only retard racist faggots need to hide their racism on the internet.
A few years ago , likening ******* to chimps would've just been an average , generic post that nobody batted an eye about . But with all the racially charged events going on as of late , you might just have to tread a bit more lightly . You wouldn't make a racist joke about Jews in 1944 would you ?
I made jokes about 9/11 the day after it happened in the school playground. We all did. I wasn't even much past 7 when that happened.
Either you can't make jokes about anything and the world is humourless. Or you can laugh at whatever you want and some people can be offended, but being offended doesn't change much at all. It just means you're offended, it doesn't mean you're right.
That video is funny as **** a decade later , but you were in really poor taste by making jokes a mere day later and that only proves my point . Had you said that to an adult , you'd be in a mental institution still to this day .
So you're essentially saying you're no better than the guys I was alluding to in my initial comment?
I don't come here to communicate with tact.
I come here to be foul and crude and laugh at anything going.
You're perfectly within your rights to say I belong in an institution but I'm not going to get butthurt and offended about it. I can see why you said it, however it's your opinion and frankly I don't give a **** .
Anyway, most jokes that are in poor taste are not about the joke itself, it's the reaction.
It's the same as the eating nutella from a diaper prank. It is in poor taste, but you do it for the reactions and you laugh.
You can say it's in poor taste, but I bet you were browsing on here the day after the Charlie Hebdo killings and laughing at the **** the internet came out with.
Either be offended by everything or go to tumblr.
You shouldn't draw a line of tact in a place like this. In places like this is where filth resides.
I laugh at nearly everything, be it about blacks, whites or even mexicans(what I am). Or just about any controversial idea cause its just jokes and that's about all there is to it. Admittingly I do get heated when I see some **** about SJWs and feminists trying to change **** cause of the stupid **** embedded into their heads. But even then I laugh at just how retarded they are so as to remain true to the spirit of fj and laugh at the world from behind a screen, instead of trying to mimic what I hate and be a tumblerina or whatever other stupid site full of snowflakes and bigots are out there.
tl,dr don't be like other sites, stay as classy as fj gets and laugh at everything and at least try to avoid showing your butthurt.
I's not happening now. The Anti-SJW bandwagon caused a surge of shock humor, and some of the humor was real hatred hiding behind the old "It's a joke" defense. But FJ didn't want to aknowledge that because of the bandwagon. FJ got all up in arms if someone tried to point that out. FJ liked to scream freedom of expression, while immediately rejecting any opinions that went against the hivemind. There are no assholes on our site. They are all on other sites.
Charleston broke the bandwagon, and now the community is starting to notice that, surprise, some of these people were not joking.
I give you two days max until the local colony of assholes reacts. We will be flooded by content and comments denouncing all the CIS opressive males... I mean, jew beta whiteknight ****** cucks and their conspiracy against the white race.
I'm only 22 years old, but I've already played both sides of the field pretty well throughout my life. I've been far too closed minded at times and probably a bit too "open-minded" as well. However, it's taught me about how both types of people think. Neither are actually that great to be honest.. The best thing a person can do is (incoming opinion) is to listen without speaking and think logically (not emotionally) for a bit before doing so, no matter how hard this might be. (and it can be difficult..)
I'll use the recently famous and widely controversial example of transgenders to explain why I believe this is the best way to go about thinking about things.
Having been on both the closed and open sides of this topic, I've thought about and discussed it quite a lot. From believing it was probably "wrong" because it was so wildly different than what's typically "acceptable," to believing that if these people are unhappy and this is what makes them happy, then how could it be "wrong?" Recently, due to the Bruce Jenner controversy, I've had the chance to read some interesting and enlightening comments regarding the transgender issue, that have ushered in me taking a different approach to it. I had thought "perhaps it is wrong" without giving thought as to why/how. I had thought "perhaps it is right" without giving thought as to why/how. I now instead wonder less if it is relativistically "right or wrong" and more so contemplate whether or not it is healthy. One comment that I read raised an especially good point on a post regarding the suicide of a bullied transgender teacher. (maybe you saw the post/ comment) She/he committed suicide because they were being bullied by the staff and nothing was being done about it.. However.. Mentally healthy people rarely (if ever) commit suicide from being bullied. There are so many other fixes for that type of situation that a mentally stable person would jump to before choosing to erase themselves permanently. Which made me think. Maybe these people are not mentally stable/healthy? I researched a bit and even found out that the suicide rates of post-op transgenders is a remarkable ~40-60%. That. Is. HIGH. Especially for someone that "finally got the thing that was supposed to make them feel better." So perhaps these people don't need a gender reassignment surgery, maybe they need a special medication that we haven't discovered yet and/or therapy?
This is the type of thinking I'm talking about. It isn't enough to be "closed minded" or "open minded," people have to be logical and less emotional, otherwise the two previous types of thinking just become two unique types of ignorance. If we jump on either bandwagon of "this is wrong, condemn/ignore it!" or "these poor people, they need an equal rights movement!" then we may never discover that neither of these could be the true issue.
I'd like to say that I am not saying I understand everything about the transgender issue. It is still a very new topic with few studies backing it. I realize that I could be completely incorrect or that I may even be misinformed on some points. However, I don't think that takes away from my true point.
I'm currently nearing the end of my Biology Degree at University and hoping to get into my schools Physician Assistant Program. While I enjoy logical argument/discussion, I'd be lying if I said I'm not more of a writer at heart, so I'm not sure how well talking in front of an audience/ courtroom would go lol.
I think this is one of the most level headed comments I've seen on here. I've always believed morality isn't always so black and white and is contextual to so many combinations of situations individuals don't account for. People need to have the wisdom to be able to call ******** on anyone who claims absolute moral high ground to a situation "Just cause they feel it". If people can't reason their position without falling into logical and emotional fallacies then their opinion is markedly less valid.
I don't think FJ's comments have ever been open minded, ya'll stick to your guns harder and faster then a prepubescent boys first time touching his dick. No amount of reason or statistic sway you, your about as close minded as every one else.
If you mean leeway in the things said, then yeah, the sjw crowd are getting their greasy hands in the comment sections, I used to think it was just those theme accounts, but it's starting to seem like that's not the case.
All jokes aside, there are many massive liberals on this site. Every time someone says something that isn't statuesque, they tell you to go back to /pol/
/pol/ isn't autistic or a bunch of neck beards. They point out different (factual) things that are bringing the Western World to it's knees.Every time I see the same liberal posters post, it is in response to someone who has done their research on a topic. And all you every say is "HURR HURR GO BAK 2 /pol/"
You liberals are one of the reasons the site is like tumblr. You get extremely mad when someone posts a well researched statement and go right for the jugular.
And saying that... I would like you Liberals to dispute these well researched stats from the US Gov't proving that blacks (in general) are a vice to this country.
