The year is 2016. I stand, engulfed in silence, looking at the snowed over door of my home.
Tentatively, I take several steps forward, breaking the still of the scene with the crisp crunch of snow sounding from beneath my boots.
My breathing quickens as I turn the frozen door knob and make my way to my room.
Even inside, it is still deathly quiet. In my room, my desktop sits still, un-moving, just as it had been for the last nine months. I had spent a long time in Iraq, doing my job of destroying rockets and mortars. I survived all of that, surely, I could survive this.
Surely.
Slowly, I finger the power button, and hear the internal workings of the PC rise from it's long hibernation.
The time is coming.
I must experience the memes.

FJ is dead.
I still die anyway from the cancer that this site induced ages ago.
Maybe a message from a parent or friend from back home? He could have gotten a dear John, but thats unlikely because it doesn't sound like she was breaking off the relationship.
indeed....specially in an armor unit XD but yea....you can fight back stateside but over there your issues gotta go because, as cliche as it is, "you're fighting for the man/woman fighting next to you"
Marines don't use acu, we use marpat. Word was we were rolling a multifamily eventually when I left, but tbh I prefer marpat woodlands over multi... the desert can go either way.
Scorpion and multicam blend in really well with a lot of environments, digital..not so much. There's plenty of videos that showcase how well certain patterns work, you can check one of those out.
Alright, thanks. I was under the impression that before a new pattern is approved, it goes through a stupid amount of objective tests to confirm that it works well in the first place.
But as it seems, it´s more a case of flinging excrement at a wall and waiting to see which turd sticks.
True. I don´t remember which movie it was, but the quote was "Don´t ever forget that every single piece of your equipment has been manufactured by the lowest bidder."
We started utilizing Multicam via RFI back in about 2010-2011. The UCP (digital camo) that has been in use since about 2003 is in the process of being replaced by Scorpion W2, a pattern very similar to Multicam, but not as sexy. Soldiers can wear all three patterns currently until the official phase-out date in 2019 where the Scorpion pattern will be the only authorized pattern. I'll really miss my Multicam when that day comes, I love this **** .
