If you're new to it, do crunches on a gym ball. Starting off the floor gives you bad back pains if your form is incorrect, but on a gym ball it's easier to neutralise the back and abdomen pains.

This is a joke. The number one reason you don't have abs is simply because of the fact that you can not see them. Exercises like these do make your muscles bigger and stronger, but that is pointless when they are hidden beneath a layer of fat. To get abs, you need to lower your bodyfat percentage, that is, the percentage of your body weight that is just fat. This is done through proper dieting in addition to exercise. Exercise burns calories, but if your usual eating habit is to consume more calories than you can use in a day, then you will never get abs.

Ab workouts don't give you abs. You need to have a low enough body fat level to see them (skinny guys don't have abs because their abs are simply too small. They need to eat more, bulk up, and then cut down).

I'd also like to use this to point out that fat and carbs do not put on fatEveryone has a TDEE, how many calories you need to maintain weight. Eat under it, you lose weight. Eat over it, you gain weight. Eat in a 500 cal deficit, lift, and you'll lose fat. It's actually very common to cut by eating 100-150g of fat per day.

-Pushup
-Wide arm pushup
-Close interval pushup (diamond pushups)
-Incline pushup
-Decline pushup
-Handstands (you can use a wall)
-Dips
-Pullups

I have a hole in my spine (small, but still causes a crap ton of pain) and a tumor in my knee, anyone have any suggestions on how I can exercise? Trying to eat better as well, been counting calories and such, but I know that only goes so far.
