And to be honest, I dont really thing thats bad, only three year difference. Of course people in america are minors up till 18 but **** , lifes not been fair to the guy.

lordbrauner (07/24/2015) [-] Only if you're under 2 years older than the 16 year old. That is a very important part of that law that is never discussed. If you're 24 months and 1 day older than the 16 year old, it becomes a felony. I've met many people who got hit by that.

yamiyo (07/24/2015) [-] In Florida, with parental consent, the law is 16-24. If one party is under latter and the other over the former, it's considered legal. Other states have the actual age of consent at 17 like Louisiana where it is the actual age of consent with no age restrictions. Aside from that there are states with 3 year age restrictions (Also like Louisiana) where, say a 14 year old can consent to sex with a 17 year old as long as the person is between 13 and 15. Certain states might have the law you've cited, but many do not.

lordbrauner (07/24/2015) [-] Ah, Florida. My state, Minnesota, does. Many people talk about the AoC being 16 here, when that's hardly the case. I've seen people get arrested and go to jail for simply misunderstanding the law. Ignorance of the law doesn't mean immunity of the law, of course, but it's still extremely unfortunate. I try to make sure people know about the 24 month restriction that's in place here now.
