I think this is the first time I've seen GradeAUnderA here on FJ.
He deserves the publicity, his videos are pretty good. To those who haven't seen him: www.youtube.com/user/GradeAUnderA
I like GradeAUnderA and I've been watching him since he's only had a couple hundred subs but ever since he started to gain a lot of views, he's made a ******** of more videos than he ever did, which is both good and bad. I just feel like his videos have become more click baity and the subjects of his videos are sometimes really low hanging fruit, like the Kardashians. I still love this videos, especially the one OP posted but I think he should perhaps focus on quality or quantity.
It's because there is a Jewish "race" as well as a Jewish religion. People who have Jewish ancestry are genetically distinct from non-Jews (regardless of their religious identity).
"Here we show that within Americans of European ancestry there is a perfect genetic corollary of Jewish ancestry which, in principle, would permit near perfect genetic inference of Ashkenazi Jewish ancestry. In fact, even subjects with a single Jewish grandparent can be statistically distinguished from those without Jewish ancestry."
This isn't particularly surprising, as Jewish identity has always been closely linked to the narrative of being the descendants of the Biblical Patriarchs and 12 Tribes of Israel. Combined with the fact that Jews typically don't proselytize and conversions to Judaism are rare, most modern day Jews share a common ancestry that goes back thousands of years to the Middle East. Today there are also many Jews who are not religiously Jewish but still identify as Jews for cultural reasons (like Albert Einstein).
Being jewish isn't a race, it's an ehnicity or a religion. Saying it's a race would exclude everyone who doesn't possess the stereotypical features.
Sure jews may have simialr traits, but that is what "inbreeding" does, most jews do come from a bloodline that can date back several thousand years ago.
But you can't say that a religion is a race...
RACE, n. L. radix and radius having the same original. This word coincides in origin with rod, ray, radiate, &c.
1. The lineage of a family, or continued series of descendants from a parent who is called the stock. A race is the series of descendants indefinitely. Thus all mankind are called the race of Adam; the Israelites are of the race of Abraham and Jacob.
~ Webster's American Dictionary of the English Language, 1828
Well then where does that redhead jew stereotype come from? Pretty sure they haven't mixed in the middle east. Last time I put a ginger in the sun he lit up like dracula trying to tan.
a bloody mary is not a girly drink though. atleast not where im from. here its more like a hangover drink. but yeah i agree. people should just drink what they like
I agree with you, I think those drinks are better than beer even though I drink neither. I just settle for iced tea or fristee, which is also a tad odd when you are with a few heavy drinkers.
It is kind of a pain in the ass. I mean, you go to a bar and order a beer or a couple fingers of whiskey, everyone assumes you're a hard ************ . But that same dude goes into a bar and orders a vodka cranberry and automatically, everyone assumes he's gay. What the **** ?
I always thought "they all look alike" referred to individuals, not different nationalities. So if you said "all Asians look alike", you don't just mean you can't distinguish between Koreans, Chinese, Japanese, etc, but rather that you can't distinguish between different Asian individuals. Which is a teensy bit racist - or at least, people who say stuff like that tend to be racist.
Many Chinese, Japanese and Koreans themselves have trouble distinguishing between Chinese, Japanese and Korean people based on purely on physical appearance, just like white Europeans might not be able to tell what European country a particular white person is from. It's no big deal, even if it may be a bit awkward when you make a mistake.
I never understood though why it's "racist" to not be able to tell 2 different people apart.
I couldn't tell 2 people apart if they looked similar. Be it 2 Chinese people, 2 African-Americans, whatever.
I've gotten irritated with movies because for some reason all the characters are white, tall, and blond.
None of these should insinuate racism. People don't start to notice fine details of others until they start spending time with them.
You're right, and some people really do look similar, but it is a bit racist when you say all black people look alike (or whatever race).
I suppose you can't help it if you literally have trouble telling them apart because your eyes/brain aren't accustomed to black or Asian features. Similarly, people in China can't really be blamed for thinking many white people look alike. Got to cut people some slack in those cases. But if you live in the US or a similarly diverse country, you're bound to encounter other races often enough that it shouldn't be a huge problem.
Right, I wouldn't say they (any group of "they", even white people) ALL look alike, but I would say I'd have difficulty telling 2 apart if I hadn't gotten to know them.
Racism is about stereotyping, so if it comes from an attitude of dismissal, disrespect or typecasting, it is racist, but people jump to this conclusion a lot- out of paranoia, or wanting to feel victimised or whatever, but it's true that there's nothing inherently racist about having a hard time telling people apart.
I got the Asian ones right. I'd like to thank the hours of porn watching for helping me discern the main races of the orient and traps from real women.
I actually had a breakthrough in identifying the differences in black people a few years ago. It was a news article calling a movie racist for making the evil villain black and saying they made him look just like Obama. Well I stood and looked at the two pictures for a good two minutes, almost thinking they were pretty similar, before I started to realize all of those tiny differences that really differentiate them. I never opened that clickbait article (it was a CNN one) but I did learn something that helped me a lot.
Also as an American I get surprised when I see some distinctly Russian people in Russia because I forget that that specific racial appearance is common in Russia. It's why I like what America stands for as a nation of immigrants. So long as you don't infringe upon the freedoms and rights (this includes law and saftey, I could explain that if you don't understand why that is) of another citizen you get just as much leeway as everyone else.
It is not racist to not be able to identify who is from which country.
It IS racist to say everyone from East Asia is Chinese or use that as a default. Just like it would be bigoted to call any European language you can't understand French. You are making a wide generalization about a group of people/language.
It isn't though. Being Racist implies that I hate that race or dislike them, I don't dislike a race when I say that I can't tell where they are from lmao
