A fantastic writer. My dad has a great big collection of Clancy, so I called him up to break the news.

God damn. I know the games weren't made by HIM,but they were "inspired" by his work,so he's still somewhat responsible. I loved the games, but the books more so. It sucks that he's gone now. May he rest in peace.

All I know is my Dad is upset. He read every book written by him and was hoping he could finish the current series.

Hos movies were amazing as well.

The movie version of Net Force was crap. The book, however, was awesome.

Net Force and Op Center were not really written by him, just under his names.
No, I am talking about Hunt for red October, Patriot Games, Sum of All fears, Clear and present Danger, and without Remorse.
Oh and it looks like there is a movie coming out called Jack Ryan: Shadow Recuit

I may not have played his games much, but I will still leave my respects.
User avatar #96 to #92 - roninneko (10/03/2013) [-]
They were just released under his name. His true worth was as an author.

Sorry, don't know much about him in general. I'm just going to shut my mouth now...

Just released under his name and loosely based on one of his books.
User avatar #104 to #98 - breadbasket (10/03/2013) [-]
If they were based, even loosely on his books, he was still the reason the games were made.

I found my violin teacher talking to me about tom clancy before I knew he was an author. I thought an old woman was talking to me about a video game I barely played.
User avatar #84 - TheHutchie (10/03/2013) [-]
He'll never get to see the final version of The Division...

...I'm serious, this fact actually hurts me.
User avatar #100 to #84 - roninneko (10/03/2013) [-]
He didn't care. His name was just on it because the developers had lasting rights to use his name in the labeling of their product. He was an author.
User avatar #144 to #100 - TheHutchie (10/04/2013) [-]
That doesn't mean he didn't care. We don't know either way, but I think that if I wrote a book and somebody turned it into a game or a movie, I'd quite like to see the final product.
