3ds is good and X and Y are definitely worth it. If you're only going to buy the 3ds for pokemon, buy a 2ds, it's actually very comfortable and much cheaper.

The games are awesome, but if you don´t have too much money at hands right now, I´d wait. While the games are 10/10 and far better than everything since Gen 3, they´re also damn short with few extra-content (unless you are willing to spend copious amounts of time and nerves to learn about the astrophysiscs that are needed to go competitive nowadays)
I for one, am still waiting for Z and/or expansions to X/Y to make up for the short playtime. They´re worth the money, either way, tho, but If you´d have to save up, I´d rather save up for the next thing that´ll happen to Gen 6.

If you don't have the extra money, not really worth it.

I like having mine because I was able to buy it at a time when I had the extra funds and I play it every now and then but it's not something I would tell you to invest in.

My answer would be yes.

I bought a 3DS for the purpose of playing pokemon X/Y alone. I ended up getting both copies. I had a lot of fun playing the game and still do (right now as I write even.) I don't regret a single thing about it.

Why X/Y is good:
A lot of mechanics have been added and or removed to stimulate balanced gameplay. The newly added Fairy type which I was unsure of at first actually managed to fit itself in the game flawlessly while taking the dominating dragon and fighting types down by a rank while making steel and poison much more viable in online play. They balanced the game, made counters for overused sets without making them unusable, they buffed and nerfed stats on a few pokemon and moves for even more balance and EV training pokemon has become easier than ever to make it easier for everyone to get the pokemon teams they want on online battles. The online trading has become fun and amazing, the GTS allows you to get what you need, provided you have what someone wants, and the wonder trade allows you to trade pokemon for random pokemon. Usually you recieve both crap pokemon but also breeding rejects that are generally relatively rare or popular pokemon who commonly have bred moves and also hidden abilities! The story on itself was good, it incorporated humor but also severely raised the stakes from the previous game. Going from world domination to entire world destruction. It's a good combination of storytelling and comic relief, but as always, it remains pokemon and will never be as good as other games out there. And- Since pokemon bank came out you can get all the old pokemon you liked from earlier gens!

However: This pokemon game is extremely vanilla in comparison to the other pokemon games. There are very few extras that you can make use of properly besides the super training and the friend safari.

TL;DR: It's a good game, I still play it. Now go buy it! If you do, name some of your favorites, I could get them for you and trade them!

Absolutely not... practically every user of this site will say TO NOT BUY IT and to avoid POKEMON X/Y.... I mean... its not like people are CONSTANTLY posting pokemon stuff in general and x/y stuff that easily gets to the front page every single day!

If you can't tell... I'm being sarcastic.

The 3DS is worth it. I have three of them (X/Y Red, Pikachu, and the OOT edition). X and Y, however, is bad. Really, really bad. I miss the days of little narrative and clear, concise goals. This new generation is all cut-scenes and ****** , yet unskippable, story fragments that make you hate the sub-characters endlessly. That lesbian bitch who helps you catch the dog, the dancing fat faggot, the ****** trainer, and the forgettable fourth douche. I used to speed run Emerald. I loved these games through Black and White 2. X and Y is just terrible though.

Good titles are pretty abundant though, plus the backwards compatibility.

Depends on what kind of games you like. I bought a used 3DS (barely used) at gamestop and to go with it I bought Kingdom Hearts Dream Drop Distance and later Dragon quest monsters joker 2. In my opinion it was pretty much Worth it since I play pretty much all the time. Also im getting Super Smash bros 4 for it when it comes out. But I mean unless you plan to purchase anything other than Pokemon X or Y I recomend that you get it as cheap as possible.

I would recommend buying the game but get a 2ds since it is cheaper. You could also get a bundle of the 2ds and the game.

Yes, though get a 2DS. May not be as visually appealing, but it is worth it.
