It shouldn't need explanation. Loading rounds into a magazine normally requires manual precision. Even just wearing normal gloves, it's a bit trickier than normal. So, wearing very bulky gloves, and still being able to load a magazine faster than someone without gloves is pretty slick.
You were first given a demonstration that compared normal loading procedure versus this speed loader. It should have been blatantly apparent what the purpose of showing the speed loader being used with 'hockey mitts' was meant to indicate.
Right, what I mean is that if you have never handled a gun, or had to load a magazine, maaaaaaaaaybe, just maaaybe, you wouldn't know that it can be tricky to do, so the demonstration with the gloves won't make sense, and since we didn't get an explanation, just a side by side pair of videos, people won't put those together.
I may not know how magic works in Harry Potter, but I don't think you know how people work in real life
I know that people can watch the guy on the left side at the beginning of the video, and see that he has to use his fingers to load the rounds. And that makes it perfectly clear that to perform this task, you normally need a level of manual dexterity. And it should be common sense that you don't have the same level of manual dexterity when wearing a bulky glove.
But perhaps I expect people to have basic powers of observation & common sense.
No such thing as common sense, just what we know and what we don't - give a caveman a spoon and he won't even know to turn it the right way.
If you have never handled a gun in any way, and somebody shows you this video, he is not even gonna look to the left for a second, he will look at the loader and think "oh boy that's neat."
People don't take notice of things they aren't experienced with.
Time to simply agree to disagree. IMO, if a 'caveman would never understand a spoon', then nothing would have ever been invented int he first place. The human brain has the capacity to extrapolate from the current perceived reality. Granted, actually using that ability is rare, but I think it exists in everyone. It's only faded from disuse, and that's only because there is no necessity for creation in the average person's life.
I'm not saying he would never understand the spoon, but people need time and experience with stuff before they learn and extrapolate, being shown a quick video like this is by no means enough time or experience, especially if on FJ, with which I mean that people are here for a quick laugh and then move on, chances are they aren't actually looking at the video, just watching it.
I saw that you're a former marine, think back at basic training, how much stupid **** did you guys do? How many silly mistakes that are now clear as day?
I recognize your point. However, I still think the concept of loading rounds into a magazine is a simple idea, and even without firsthand experience, a casual observer should be able to grasp the basic operation.
It's like watching a baseball game. You don't have to have any skill in order to understand how the basic of the game works. Hit a ball with a stick, run around the bases, score a point.
Oh, and by the way:
burningsmurfs, atusek, legiah, jameswindy & chummyxray; Come on down!
It's a well known fact in advertising that you have to cater to people who are deficient of common sense and critical thinking. (not the type of person i want handling a gun but I digress) hence the hockey glove. In an ideal world I would agree with you, but in this world we still have grown adults who cant tie their shoe laces.
Ok I got in there
Hola, I guess you mentioned me because you think I want to continue to thumb you down. Truth of the matter is I don't care about the discussion you're having, I only thumbed you down on those two posts because I didn't agree with how you saw the situations. Then you continued to go at it, which you're just fine for doing, but I still didn't agree. Thanks for the mention though, but like I said, I don't care enough to continue with it. Best of luck to ya and zay.
I don't see how it's 'unrelated'. On the left, you are manually putting in rounds one at at time, using too hands. On the right, you're putting in five at a time, and much faster, and_ one handed..
I really don't think you need Billy May's voice saying "In fact folks, it's so easy to load rounds one handed, you can do it even when wearing a heavy hockey glove!"_
I guess it boils down to the fact that have higher expectations for the average person's comprehension level than, well, the average person does.
It isn't unrelated, but it seems so to people who don't know better.
I do think you have too high expectations, and in this case I think it's because you've been working with guns in the marine corp, things that seem obvious to you will fly right by laymen, but I don't know you, you could just have high expectations just generally...

Of course they are, but we're on funnyjunk right now and a lot of people here have never even seen a gun in real life - so claiming that it doesn't need an explanation, especially to a guy that asks for one, is complete and utter ********
No it's not. A silencer implies it's silenced the gun which is untrue. It's called a suppressor because it suppresses the sound, it's nowhere near silent.
There's no such thing as a "silencer" that makes the gun completely silent. Silencer and suppressor are synonymous. There is literally no way to contain the loud crack that exploding gunpowder makes. All that tube on the end of the barrel does is contain the pressure wave coming out of the barrel from the propellant gasses rapidly expanding from inside the gun.
Want to prove me wrong? Look up any video of a truly silent gun like you imply AND NOT FROM A MOVIE and paste it here. I guarantee you won't find any and will probably find several articles explaining what I just did.
Thanks for proving my point? It's called a suppressor because it suppresses, it's not called a silencer because it doesn't silence. You just said it yourself yet you still tried to say they're the same thing when one of them doesn't even exist.
It calls it a silencer once on the top of the page so people who don't know what it's actually called know they're on the right page. Do you see how it's called a suppressor the entire time?
Notice how they didn't use sound suppressor nor sound moderator either? Because they're synonymous and can be switched out anytime in the article and still make sense.
Face it dude, you're just wrong and your only argument is that "it's not literally silenced" as if that means anything. A lot of things nowadays are named even though their function does not mean the literal definition of the name. "Horsepower" doesn't refer to the amount of energy one literal Horse can output. "Pencil lead" isn't actual lead. "Silencers" don't actually silence.
Things are named that way because it's assumed that most people can put 2 and 2 together and understand the general concept behind these names. There's literally nothing you can do to change this, get over it.
The only people who call them silencers are the people who don't know what they're actually called. And what the hell are you trying to say about "sound suppressors"? Do you call it a sound silencer? "It's not literally silenced" is the only argument needed. Are you going to call a bicycle a motorcycle? No, because they're two different things. And only 5 year olds are the ones that don't know that graphite is whats inside a pencil, are you a 5 year old that doesn't the difference between suppressed and silenced?
Oh god you've seen this before? Oh man I'm so sorry. How must that feel? I can't believe other people HAVEN'T seen this yet. Bunch of noobs. They must be so stupid compared to you. Wow.
Thats how you spot a real hockey player from a fake one. The fake one needs a gun whereas the real player would just drop his gloves and fight with his fists.
nah, it's just a clip. i've thought about it for about a month, and it's just a clip. Now if it was part of the magazine, then it would be a clipazine. Someone should really design that though.
You guys realize that will only work for magazines that load like rifle mags. If you have to slide the round in instead of press down it's useless. So any ar chambered in a pistol caliber could use that, but that's where it stops, really.
I think guns are noisy, obnoxious items people buy to make them feel less insecure about the size of their dicks.
But I'll be damned if that isn't a cool invention, and those sounds.
Oh my god.
>items people buy to make them feel less insecure about the size of their dicks
is anything that people care about nowadays automatically about dick size?
that must mean you've obviously never owned nor cared about firearms then.
Gee thanks for demonstrating that it works if you're wearing boxing gloves I was worried about it being useless if I suddenly teleported into team fortress 2
