i posted this .gif a few months ago with my old account and it's nice to see it again. it actually describes Philosopher's stone, how some people tried to make it with alchemy, but never succeeded and wasted their lives trying to search it or create it. I love this .gif because it actually has a deeper meaning.

Full-Metal Alchemist is great, but I hate most of the people who watch it because they never know what Alchemy actually is, or what the Philosophers Stone actually is.

No, altering/understanding nature is not Alchemy, it belongs to the school of Alteration. Alchemy is the study of chemicals and chemical reactions, as an Alchemist was basically an ancient Chemist. Furthermore, the Philosophers Stone doesn't "remove equivalent exchange", it just allowed for the altering of ANY chemical into another, the greatest example in literature being turning lead into gold. Equivalent exchange was indeed a real lesson in Alchemy, but only because it taught you that you had to use X mass, X chemical, X any type of thing in order to gain another of an equal amount; you lose to gain, that type of thing.

If you REALLY want to go on about "But it grants you eternal life", hate to break it to you, but the Philosophers Stone did not; they did, however, have another thing called "The Elixir of Life" that was made using Alchemy, and it basically made you immune to any type of infection and sickness, as well as just generally having better healing over-all.
