What's so hard to believe about it? 3 years ago the majority of Bitcoin users were highly computer savvy- on the tor network. Now you see dozens of Engineers, scientists offering their services up to Bitcoin and other alto-currencies. Goldman Sachs- yes ironic- is endorsing a new alto-currency and only time will tell before Google starts implementing Bitcoins in one of its products. Bitcoins are here to stay.

They're to money what 3D is to media. At most it's a fad that will die out in a few years, because they lack any intrinsic value and are not a single entity that can be held responsible for the quality of a service.

Trust me, I'm a big lurker of tech communities, and half of them could use a lesson in money management.

I was referring to it having a set limit, and being only divisible, which could cause the value to increase. It is the definition of fiat currency, in that it's value is derived from the peoples willingness to use it. I was also making light of the Fed's ability (propensity) to devalue our country's currency through inflation by printing more.

I dunno. I feel like that can't be applied to everything.

If you don't agree with abortion, its likely because you view that baby as a living thing. If you do believe that its a living human then the mother is literally killing the child, denying them life. Its not your choice, but its also not the child's choice.

That logic works with gay marriage. Its two people doing something that doesn't affect anyone else. They're happy and you're not affected. Everyone wins, but you can't really use that logic when someone's actions affect someone who is not aware of what is happening.

I'm finding that more and more people are becoming a mish mash of left, right/liberal, republican ideals. For example, I believe in unrestricted gun rights (in the sense you can by whatever gun you want), but you need to pass a brief course in the safe handling and storage of firearms to receive a license in order to buy them. I also believe that said course should be regulated, but NOT run, by the government. To add to that previous point though, the only way that will work effectively is that the government should contract that service out to a private company or local gunsmiths to stimulate the economy and avoid corruption of the licensing system. But oh, ho, ho, I'm not done yet. I also think that safe handling and ownership of a firearm should be a mandatory class in High School, and should be taught by an independent, contracted, teacher to avoid political bias (kind of like sexual education). I feel that this system appeals to both liberal and republican ideals in the sense that it instates the licensing process the liberals want, but also makes guns less of a taboo in society and more like a driving a car. You go learn what's safe and what isn't, and how to correctly follow the rules of the road to avoid injury and death.

As you seem to require hyper-specificity I will extrapolate my idea. I never said wooden model, nor did I say that saying "guns are dangerous" is the only thing the teacher would do. As for the comment about it being mandatory, I was referring to it being mandatory for a high school to offer the course, not mandatory for the students to participate (kind of like sex ed... as I stated). well now that a new can of worms, as there is not definitive definition of deviant behavior hell in the south being black is considered by many people to be deviant behavior the only way to be sure would be to have a psychologist for each class. By having a cop teach the class. Hes already trained to look for suspicious behavior and will take the gun after each student has used it and will take it before the class lets out. Most high schools have a police officer on campus already.

Requiring training courses is a nice idea and something I'll be doing personally, but you run into issues trying to mandate something like that. While a good idea, it's similar to the old voter tests. It's hard to constitutionally pass hurdles that end up in front of rights. From a legal perspective, I think it' be easier to implement if taking the courses had some sort of incentive. Say you taxed firearms but anyone who passed such a course was free from paying those taxes .

But I absolutely agree with teaching high schoolers about proper firearm safety. Many people in this country have overreactions to anything even related to a firearm; They're irrationally terrified and have no idea what to do.

If everyone knew how firearms worked and how to safely handle them, we'd all be safer and better off in any situation involving firearms. It's the very SAME logic they used to start teaching sex ed. Hell, you don't even have to make it it's own class; make it a unit in a "life skills" course that teaches kids important things they need to know in the real world (like changing a car's oil for example).
