Allright everybody, I've seen enough of this whole "Gamers are dead" sort of dealio and it's time to raise my voice too, but don't worry, you'll like it.
We have seen Kotaku and other big websites talking about how gamers are dead, how gamers are going to die, how politics is becoming a big part of the gaming industry and how everything is going to be "mature" and "journalistic" while "troll gamers" are going to be left behind like some sort of dead animals.
Let me tell you why that's ********.
The Gaming industry is not made up of people who like politics, who like activism or even the support for women in gaming ( seriously that's a big deal that shouldn't be ) that's the "gaming journalism", and let me tell you, I hate this pair of words more than I hate a sore tooth.
I'm a game developer, I make games and i'm always in contact with the gaming community, and what I have seen is not the same of what these people have seen, I haven't seen gamers dying, I have seen a growing community of people who LIKE GAMES, they don't care about this sort of stuff, they don't care about the whole "journalism" side of gaming, they care that the game is pretty and that the Developers are COOL people ( hence Phil Fish or Zoe Quinn ) because being a Developer means representing your game, and if you make some ******** moves like these two did, your game will resent of it, and so will your whole community ( look at what is happening ).
I honestly couldn't care less of this whole deal, because my passion for game development comes from my passion of GAMES, not how they SELL, not how much i'm getting paid ( nothing, btw ) to do it, but because I LOVE VIDEOGAMES, and that's what people at Kotaku are missing, they miss the POINT, they miss what gaming is all about! it's about having fun, it's not about telling people what to buy, it's about sitting on a chair with a bunch of cheetos and trying a game, and then saying " man this is the coolest thing ever " and make an article about it, since when did people care about "1/10" or "10/10" ? we all know those scores are faked by the everlasting demon of money, we all know "10/10" means "6/10 but they gave money to raise it", WHY should people care? they shouldn't because it's fake to begin with.
Gaming Journalism is the bane of the gaming industry, there I said it, and not because it's fake, not because it's corrupted, but because it's MATURE, the gaming industry is not mature! it's made of people who jump around, dance and swear to each other, it's a pool of mud and the kids inside them play with it and have fun until they can, it's a SPORT where people like to get serious and be competitive while doing the thing that they LOVE and have FUN with, you'll see nobody say
"Well, I am a big LoL player but I've always wanted to be a Chef, guess you can't have everything from life!"
No! because that's how gaming works! it's various, it's big, it's intensive, it's CHILDISH, and this I say to Kotaku and the big "gaming journalism" media, if you want to judge the "gamers", you should become one first.
