Texas v. Johnson and many other cases afterwards already established that flag desecration is permissible on U.S. soil as per the First Amendment. It's considered symbolic speech. However, that's really ******* stupid that they come to our country and turn our flag upside down. I'm fine with immigrants, but they should at the very least respect the country they came to for a better standard of living.

The thing that really pisses me off is the fact that they're the only group of people that have to learn english once they get here. Even the citizenship test is available in spanish which is unfair to every other immigrant group. I understand wanting to preserve your culture and speaking only spanish at home but most of their kids that were born here speak broken accented english at best.

Also ******* puerto ricans really grind my gears they want full American rights yet refer to themselves as boriquans or whatever.

Well, everyone's looking for a sense of identity, but it's not like we should cater to that. If I'm moving to China, I speak Chinese. If I'm moving to France, I speak French. If I'm moving to Russia, I speak Russian. It should be a requirement that you speak the native language because it's incredibly difficult to function in a society that doesn't understand you. We shouldn't have to change society for them, but they're free to speak however they want as long as they can communicate in the language that the vast majority speaks.

One thing that gets me is how it used to be compared to now. It used to be that the original immigrants would speak a little English and would get better at it later. Then, the next generation would speak both their native language and English well. After that, the next generation would speak more English and the pattern continues. They're breaking that and thus making the country more divided by setting up a language barrier.

You have a good point, but still a lot of goods and services take a level of understanding of the English language in the U.S. to pay for. Unavoidable parts of being a citizen like filing taxes, paying your bills, and summoning various demonic beings from the dankest corner of Hell to torment your enemies should require a basic understanding of English and Latin.

Never play with demonic beings, or you shall wake up with a wide anus.

Yep, we were ******* bitches after a raid against the Germanic tribes and partying in a massive sex orgy when all of a sudden I fall into a deep sleep, I wake up, my sack of gold was gone and my anus was quite, full of butthurt.

Mee too son, but at least your people still hold the majority and the total immigrant population is below 5%. Right?
User avatar #3 to #2 - yuukoku (06/24/2014) [-]
Depends on what you mean by "your people." My people all look sort of the same to white people and eat a lot of dumplings. If you mean legal citizens who were born here, then yeah we hold the majority of the country, but that's visibly changing in southern California. This kind of thing goes for any country, though. I hear Europeans complaining about their immigrant problems sometimes. Can you fill me in on what's going on where you live?

Well, I have just gathered the newly romanised Germanic tribes within Germania and let them immigrate to the inner borders of the Roman empire. Mostly because of the cheap labour and I shall give them the right to own land if the action proves to be good. But the prime reason I'm doing it, is to recruit men in to the army so that I can conquer all of Germania and Rome is getting short of military recruits and reserves. But, I have my doubts .The large immigration will fix the lower birth rates but I do fear that their loyalty still lies to their own people and chiefs.

Well, thank you.
I'm off to fight against the Germanic Marcomanni with my new recruits. I really hope that I return to Rome as a conqueror but if I die I shall not drop my spirit after my body drops to the ground nor shall I fear death. I take it the same as life, all within the borders of nature from nature.
Roma invicta!
He was a good emperor but the plan was disastrous in the end, and everything went wrong as Rome was loosing. The problem was that it's not about what Rome was, what was the problem seen as, but what Rome has become.

I see somebody read Meditations.

I'm not saying Trajan was more impressive in his military feats... but Trajan was more impressive in his military feats. He also had Pliny the Younger sucking him off in every letter he ever wrote, so there is that.
