The makers of these rides don't understand the basic concept of acceleration. They make the slides with evenly spaced bumps, and assume that the kid will never reach a momentum whose horizontal component is sufficient that gravitational acceleration will not cause their body to drop as fast as the slope does.
From the rider's reference frame: the further you slide, the faster you go. the faster you go, the greater the frequency and slope of the bumps.
tl;dr: these slides are lethal if you are over the age of about 10. At that age, the force of friction is more effective at reducing your acceleration, due to your reduced mass.
The more mass you have, the more friction you'll have... which means you'll be going slower... So the older you are(heavier you are) the slower you'll go on this ride... You used all those words you learned in physics 101, then gave a different reasoning in your tl;dr and still came out wrong in the end.
The rider's reference frame is never moving, a reference frame NEVER MOVES that's the point of it. A spectator's reference point will observe the rider moving, even the slide's reference point(many to choose from) will have the rider moving, but the rider's reference point sees the slide and the rest of the world moving around them.
The reason these ******* are going so fast is because they're wearing slippery pants... When a company that doesn't like to be sued has these "rides" they make you slide on a burlap sac which has a HUGE amount of friction because of its surface. Small kids go the fastest usually, which is why there is a MINIMUM age limit, but adults can ride these rides until they get too big to fit the ride itself.
you are spot on about more mass = more friction. however reference frames can move as much as you like. only thing you need to be sure of is if you are talking about an inertial or non inertial frame.
I can't, because it's silly to worry about unless you're the first person to go on the slide that day. Anyone after that doesn't have the time to stick a razor on anywhere.
Bumpy ******* slides like that scare the piss out of me and I won't do it. You cannot take slides that look like that without catching air-time and I'm terrified of breaking my tail-bone on the landing. Piss-poor design and it hurts more than it's fun.
