Despite everything the one person that he trusts implicitly tells him that symbols of love and memoriam will protect him... and he believes it because he has to. We all have to.
They don't though. It's one of our most sacred lies.
What's effective is dirty and unclean, it's why batman wears black. Because you have to harm people to stop them from harming you.
When **** hits the fan those people might eat you in a heartbeat, and stomp all over your peace attempts. You have to be ready. You have to be aware that you might need, should **** ever go down, to hurt and subdue any person you've ever met. But the lie keeps you from killing them or wanting to harm them before they even harm you.
But I'm glad the lie could preserve the child's innocence. Children, after these kinds of disasters, often lose hope in humanity completely.
There are good people out there. People who spread happiness instead of hate. This is not a lie, and though these people can easily be killed for doing it, their message perseveres. Through their kindness we stop short of letting the bad overwhelm us and killing.
That's great and all, but there will ALWAYS be people wanting power and some such or to bring about Armageddon. Peace is a great thing when it happens, but when it doesn't violence is needed to protect it.
Violence can't protect peace. It can only protect your interests. You don't fire a gun, take a life, so that everyone can live peacefully. Violence begets violence. Peace is unattainable so long as we fight- for any reason. We can only believe that what we do now will somehow prolong that which cannot be.
I don't think we'll agree. The only way I see going about fighting violence with peace is to let yourself be enslaved for so long your ancestors accept it as the norm or you are just flat out killed and there is no more enemy.
But like you said there will always be an enemy. Always someone who wants more and is willing to do whatever it takes. So, we do agree, we either enslave ourselves and accept our fate, or we eradicate ourselves and truly allow peace.
Self-defense is subjective. The attacks in Beirut and Paris were both believed to be acts of defense of Syria by those perpetrating them. I am in no way defending theit actions, nor sympathising. I understand, jowever, that even now- when everything seems so black and white- Nothing has changed. We are going to salt the lands of a country to rid it of this evil... and only more evil will come of it. But that is the only way we know and so that is what we will do.

I'm just honestly surprised and it felt nice
He was in his bathroom recording for a video on a Ipad game (surgeon simulator). The bathtub was filled with ice.
And yes, he dropped the ipad in the water, that's the reason why he's crying.
No, this GIF came from the video where he joked about what he does when he's not making videos, the Surgeon Simulator video was shot from a different angle, and he wasn't wearing a shirt.
It is from his first comment reading video, the context is someone asked what he would have done if he wasn't an internet celebrity. It cuts to this scene where we hear him think "I could have been an engineer"
Most people on this site has severe daddy issues and grew up with a black stepdad who got on their nerves by drinking their montain dew and eating their doritos. It also explains all the racism on this site.
Yeah, I took it more as a gentle way to show that they will most likely be ok. I didn't see it as some liberal yuppie **** . It's not like you're going to tell a 3-4 year old, "Yup sonny! Those meanies could blast the **** outta us and there is nothing we can do about it!". I mean christ, he's a little kid, he doesn't understand.
don't get me wrong, this is really adorable, but the fact that this kid has to fear people like that in his own home because *********** want to enforce this kind of **** on them makes me blistering with fury
