Try. I was also afk for 8 months or so. My old guys did accept me back.
Remember that many of the old crews which did play in planetside 1 are still around.
At best you find your old mates and have a great time. At worst you get to explore planetside again. And let me tell you, the game is the tits!

Reached lv 37
My wife started playing because i told her i needed a gunner
She always played PS2-PS3 and never touched a mouse to play a game.
She finds TR too hard.
We immigrate to Vanu lads so its more "casual" since bullets dont drop,Magriders are easy to drive
After a loooong time she starts using Controller and mouse
I reach Lv 50,she is close to 40
She finds it easy to master,being actually a worthwhile gunner
She says that Vanu are gay and wants me to move back to TR

Simply retreat and attack with a group from another location,or simply do a /yell MAX RUSH and see the carnage unfold.
When i played i had some close ones and a Clan which usually made organised Platoons,Spawn camping was never a problem.

If the enemy has more numbers ok i get it,but other than that you can still inflict damage to the numbers by laying a **** ton of mines in the base they are going to attack next.
Or you can go airborne
Or you can do a Tank rush and destroy their sandies.
Or you can do a **** ton of other things.
You have never defended a hill or something for like 30 minutes straight without anyone advancing?
And why is it camping?

The only probleme is I live in europe and if I remember correclty most of fj community come from the US.
