Pet me

Fun facts about these cute little suckers:

1. Those long pointy spikes on their butts arent dangerous. If they are out on dry land to have sex and they get flipped over, they use that tail spike to flip themselves back over. This keeps gulls from eating them.

2. They have 10 separate eyes all over the surface of their shells which help them see everything around them at any given time.

3. They have blue blood. This blood is also extracted by scientists and is used to treat diabetes, stomach ulcers and almost every form of cancer.

These little arthropods of the sea are cute and harmless and help save lives. Good on you, horseshoe crab.

The horseshoe crab if im right?

What you said about their blue is actually true and fascinating, considering that their blood, by itself kills other pathogens and any viruses if we humans had their blood, inside our bodies, we'd basically never be sick, and only die from old age/natural death.

Its used to completely sterilize objects that are going to be placed inside a human body, so there isnt any foreign microbe or body on them. Such things include implants mostly.

The cool thing is though, that 1L of their blood, costs about 15,000-20,000 Dollars

Fun fact we also use their blood in Pharmaceutics to test whether or not the sterilization processes actually work. If their blood coagulates, the sample has too many pyrogens, and is not sterile.

So you're telling me that if I pick this thing up, no matter where I touch it on its shell, I'm probably gonna be touching one of its eyeballs?

Also, fun fact: Its blood is blue because (like most shellfish) it has more Copper in its blood, as a mineral, than anything else. The blood of mammals and other land creatures is red because we have more Iron as a mineral. There's also some other mineral that gives you green blood, but I forget what it is.
