good thing my dad taught me on a manual first then a automatic.

good thing about having a manual car in "merica" is that most don't know how to drive it and thus people wont try to steal my car.

Alright let's wait for Europeans to try to justify using obsolete technology. Next they will try to convince us that hanging your clothes between buildings to dry is better than using a clothes dryer.

Hey if you Americans did that then 9/11 wouldn't have happened because the planes would have crashed into the clothes line first, not feeling so clever no are you?

Lol look at all the raging eurofags jumping at any excuse to **** on americans for not adopting their overly complex, highly inefficient transmission system.

"Oh you use the option that saves gas and won't wear out as quickly and is infinitely easier to use by anyone! Lol what retards!"

******* hilarious.
inb4 more eurofag rage trying to prove me wrong with made-up ******** .

Well, given the fact that they are cheaper initially and in the long run due to fuel economy and easier transmission repair they seem like a no brainer. However, driving in city traffic in Houston doesn't seem to be a pleasant experience, much less with manual. On the other hand my job is causing me to have to commute from Houston to Corpus Christi on almost a biweekly schedule (when they don't have me offshore) a 2006 Envoy doesn't seem to good either. Also, depends on the European country for instance Britain or Germany? Poland or France they are all equally terrible drivers.

shifting is the best part of driving standard. So city driving is enjoyable with one. Hell of a lot better than the monotonous boring-ness of an automatic.

The only upside to an auto is I can eat at the same time as driving with no effort

Okay, I get people not knowing how to drive one, but seriously? This guy's old enough to travel to Europe and get a rental car and didn't know manuals had three pedals?

> implying that the manual transmission is exclusive to Europe

I'm personally fine with either transmission type. As long as the person driving knows how turn signals work and that the left lane is for people doing the speed limit or greater, you can drive whatever the **** you want. I personally prefer driving manual, because I work on my own cars and manuals are easier to fix by far. I get better gas mileage in a manual, but that's mostly because manuals are much, much lighter. I drive economically in either.

The only definitive thing I have in favor of manuals being taught to everyone is that if you learn on a manual transmission, you learn to listen to and feel the car, and get a better idea of how it's behaving. This behavior carries over into automatics, as well.
