Fun fact, lead poisoning was common in Rome, because many Romans used led based piping (or painting I don't remember). Anyway people would actually eat or suck on pieces of it because of how it tasted/felt in there mouth. Source: I read a book some time like 10 years ago, my memory is fuzzy. Note: this was also common in the 19-20th century for children to each pieces of dried lead based house paint.
