OC-Some of you may rage
Alright , here' s a little anecdote.
Berrylicious did something similar and so did another user and I thought
I' d try my hand at it. I' got some interesting stuff to talk about so **** it,
About how I turned down an opportunity to work at Dark Horse comics to go
to a pizza party.
So a ass time ago before I moved, I worked
at a library and my friends were all looking forgoes, one in
particular that was my best friend, whom we' ll call "Car". This is a friend I valued over most
of my other friends and even some family members. I say this because it' s important later in the
story.
I had a webcomic at the time. This is also important. So anywayy-
At the time I was still just a nicname artist trying to get my foot in the
door, yadda, yadda, you know how it is. But my mom owns a publishing
company (aside from being a pastor) and had some connections. So she came
across a guy who was some big shot from Dark Horse who caught wind of my
webcomic and my art and offered me the opportunity to draw for them at ACEN
that year.
If that went well they would' offered me a job right there on the spot and paid me
for my ACEN appearance. I ******* lost it and told everyone who' d listen to me for 5
seconds.
Now, Car was still looking for ajob and finally got one. He was also really excited as he' d been looking for one for years
and finally nailed one. Needless to say, I was happy for him. He decided to throw a pizza party at his place and invited a bunch offs over for it
in celebration (it was a big deal to him). Now there was the issue: the day he wanted to have the party was the same day that DH wanted me to draw
for them at ACEN and work for them making comics.
I had a decision to make.
Go to ACEN and make it big? Get the exposure I needed in exchange for ditching my best friend? Or turn down Dark Horse to go hang out with my
best friend and eat pizza and celebrate with him finally nailing ajob?
It took me all MS seconds, I turned down Dark Horse' s offer and went to the party and had a good time. Car was really happy that I showed up and I don
regret it at all. Hell, N do it again.
