Song is from the soundtrack of the series Leftovers. Can't remember the name, right now, but it's worth a listen, the whole of it. Great series, great music.
Not sure why everybody deifies Mr Kenobi. He basically let Darth Vader arise by not putting Anakin out of his misery, then he just gives up on life and faps all day on Tatooine.
yeah but when he left anakin was literally a torso on fire alone in the middle of a lavafield which was on a completely uninhabited planet. he was about to die when obiwan left. like obi-wan thought for a second he couldve survived.
In the novalization of Episode III, it is explained that when he saw Anakin burn he thought about putting him out of his misery, but that would be mercifull and Obi-Wan was too fed up with Anakins betrayal to give him that mercy (or something like this).
1 those where not fights they did not feel like fights and just felt like ballet
2 never seen that so cant judge it
3 cant tell if he was **** or it was just the writing
4 that is not the backstory that was hinted at in the original films
Completely agree.
I like to think there's redeeming qualities on the prequels so I don't feel so bad for wasting 6 hours of my time on them
And I find kind of funny the 2 min fanmade montages are more emotional than the full movies
oh there are however the **** outweighs the gold
the main thing that i think is **** is the fact that battles are just jumping around doing ballet instead of actual fighting
plus they use the force like every ******* second
in the entire original film series how many times is the force used like 6 maybe 7 times
but in the pre its used every god dam ******* second
lol but searously it feels like he seen a green screen for the first time then went
i want everything
i mean for **** sakes there is a scene where they are setting in front of a waterfall
YOUR TELLING ME YOU HAD TO GREEN SCREEN IN A WATERFALL YOU COULDNT JUST FILM AT A WATERFALL and the force just feels like lucas got his hands on new tech and then did not think "hmmmm maybe i should show some restraint" no he did it because he thought it looked cool but it was stupid
And on top of that, this are computer generated effects from the 00's (or whatever)
Sometimes I wonder if the movies would look so bland if they were done with today technology
they generated things that did not need to be generated
they generated a storm trooper talking to yoda
a single storm trooper
JUST PUT A ******* GUY IN THE SUIT AND FILM IT
Liam Neeson? I can only speak for myself, but the fishmonsters in episode 1 and the ones in the arena on Geonosis were the most awesome beasts in the star wars sage
i thought the same thing
then i rewatched them
and just what the ****
they are far worse then i remember
like i alwayse thought it was just a online circle jerk but no they really are that bad
rewatch them and see for yourself
And rightly so! A childhood friend of mine used to collect the Star Wars figures, and the Acklay, Nexu and Reek Had to google the last one, I always thought his name was Roxo, dont know why were so cool. I always wanted to take them home with me
Yeah, the Acklay was my favorite. As a big fan of lego when i was younger i wished that they would make a set based on the arena and include all three monsters, sadly that never happened.
Ewan McGregor honestly did a fantastic job as Obiwan. He was able to make something really good, despite the horrid writing and all that. Now if only the other characters were like that.
Yeah, it was a very sad movie. Here you have this hero, who you KNOW want's to be a force for good but he let's his fear dictate his actions and he "falls". I wish the original trilogy could have dealt with his redemption in a more powerful way. The comics now being released have the potential to do just that so here's hoping.
talk as much **** about the prequels as you want, but they did a great job of setting up the emotions of the older characters in the original trilogy. plus the fight scenes where bad ass.
Now it's cool like the prequels, is this a new meme I'm not aware of?
That's simply not true
The most important and only emotional set up we needed was the friendship between ObiWan and Anakin. Now tell me where the **** is it?
It's not in Episode I, since Anakin is just a kid and ObiWan ignores him until the Council makes him train the little **** It's not in Epsidoe II, since Anakin doesn't stop complaining about ObiWan and ObiWan doesn't stop repeating Anakin is hard to handle. And they spend the majority of the movie away from each other... Oh wait, there was an elevator scene where they briefly talk about an adventure we haven't seen and it's not relevant! Awesome set up right there! It's not in Episode III, since, well, you know, Anakin turns to the dark side, Obi Wan doesn't notice his ''best friend'' is getting ****** and then kills him. Oh wait, there's that 10 min intro where they spit out some fahnny one liners to each other! Awesome set up right there!
Or are you talking about the love between Anakin and Leia Padme? I'm not going to discuss that, it's coarse, rough and irritating... and it gets everywhere
I've noticed a lot of ''the prequels aren't as bad as people say they are'' comments lately (Internet and irl)
Since Episode VII came out, specially, so am I wondering if this is like a cultural phenomenon where everybody just has forgotten how bad they were
I totally agree regarding the friendship between Obi Wan and Anakin.
The only way they ever establish this is when they say "we are good friends", "Yes we are." It just came off as forced and faked.
I would have liked to see the prequels centered around their dynamic. Forget dumb stories about trade negotiations and whatnot.
You spend the first two movies setting up their relationship. Maybe your first movie centers around Obi Wan training Anakin. Then your second movie is all about their adventures together during the clone wars. At that point they should be chummy as **** , though you could end this one with hints about how Anakin was starting to stray.
Then in the last prequel you basically tear their friendship apart, Anakin becomes Darth Vader, etc, all that good stuff.
And during all of this you could still set up the whole Palpatine = Darth Sidious, fall of the republic stuff. It's just that the prequels would center around Obi Wan and Anakin's friendship.
And then when Anakin starts being seduced by the dark side and their friendship starts falling apart, the audience would really feel something.
The end fight between Anakin and Obi Wan isn't bad; IMO it's the only conflict that has any real emotional weight in the prequels. It's just that it could and should be so much more.
we're suppsoed to believe this iron fist of the empire the dark sith lord who everyone fears. one whose mere presence can cause entier armies to flee, was the whiny little bitch from the prequels?
VADER THE UNSTOPPABLE SITH LORD hates sand because its ichy and gets everywhere
and his ark is ****** up. he goes from unquestionably a jedi, to slaughtering toddlers in a few months? the guy turned dark to save padme, not becasue he wanted to be evil why would he suddenly consent to doing that **** ? he didnt even jsut let the clone troopers do it he did it himself thats some pure evil **** .
and he hates obiwan all of a sudden? why? obi-wan hasnt done anything EXTREMELY wrong to himk, they were family surely anakin wouldve tried reasoning with obiwan of all people about his choice, he turned dark to save padme surely he'd have tried to explain to obi-wan that first, instead it was "I HATE YOU".
and then he tries to kill padme?! whattttt? a ******* few hours ago you were literally killing kids in the name of saving her and now youre kinda miffed shes not cool about that? thats ******* retarded.
Agreed, and that's really bad considering most of Ep 2 and 3 are about Anakin and his turn to the dark side. It's so weird him and Obi barely spend any time together in the prequels, they're mostly doing their own thing.
episode 1 was jsut redundant, we did not need to see a toddler anakin.
the prequels should have started at the beginning of the clone wars, that makes more sense. we dont need to see the whole politics behind the war we just need to know:
republic = good guys
cis = bad guys
anakin wouldve been a padawan already meaning we could have 3 episodes of him as an actual jedi and gives us a whole extra movie of him arcing towards the dark side
dont kill maul off, have maul develop as the main antagonsit, have him finally defeated by anakin in the second movie, or third. possibly beating him using the dark side to completely wreck maul. this would have made his transition more gradual
dont make anakin turning about saving padme, make him genuinely be seduced by power. anakin should turn because he sees what the darkside can do and wants more of it. we should see him turn like that.
obiwan was perfect leave him be, ewan did a good job.
dont force r2d2 and c3po into the movies aswel as chewbacca. that **** was just cringey
make yoda how he was in the original, humorous but wise. dont make him do sick flips for no reason.
make sidious more of a threat, force lightning and some weak ass lightsaber fighting just doesnt cut it for my idea of this "all powerful sith lord". i mean this guy is supposed to be THE bad guy to end all bad guys, make him do something more than just force lightning please!
Maybe what gets Anakin in touch with the dark side is his desire to beat Maul. Maybe Maul has been elusive and unbeatable which frustrates Anakin and sends him looking for more power to win.
And also, the prequels should focus really heavily on the relationship between Obi Wan and Anakin. Spend the first movie building their relationship, the 1st half of the second on it's high point, and the rest utterly destroying it on that dark side arc.
It's like the prequels assume we'd care about their characters.
it could be a fight similar to the last dooku fight
obiwan is beaten by maul, and is assumed dead by anakin who cant go and check because maul is fighting him. in that moment he turns from despair to deep, dark, hatred. his face is so contorted in anger that maul is even hit with a small pang of fear. anakin simply raises his hand and lifts maul by the throat and force chokes him. maul collapses onto the ground and before recovering he feels his arm sliced off by anakins blade. screaming in agony he tries to flee, but anakin force throws him against a wall and knocks him out.
obiwan is in medical care fore some months, anakin stays by his side the whole time, but he keeps thinking about how if he hadnt used the darkside, him AND obiwan wouldve been dead. he was always taught that it was evil and had no place in the jedi way, but he had SAVED 2 lives by using it.... this would be him having his first temptation towards the dark side.
eventually i think this lust for power would grow in him, i think hed end up leaving the jedi order (under the pretext of retirement/ unable to keep to the jedi code. so hed be a free man, hed end up marrying padme and he'd also begin searching for the old sith temples, his search would be noticed by one individual who had been watching him ever since he felt the incredible pwoer eminate through the force on the day his apprentice was defeated by anakin. he would meet anakin and they would talk with the result being that anakin would begin training as his apprentice. end of second movie.
the third movie we would see padme contacting the jedi council saying shes not seen anakin in a few months and hes not contacted her, shes worried somethings happened. the jedi dont really see the big deal, after all anakin is a very powerful jedi theyre sure he's fine. but obiwan doesnt believe so. obi wan takes up the search himself for anakin
meanwhile we get to see anakin training as a sith. we get to actually see some sith training which was never shown in the movies at all, it always skipped over it. he is now almost fully turned over to the dark side.
Man.... the prequels could have been so good.... the story is actually really poverfull, but they just had to ruin it with Jarjar, ******* greenscreen everywhere etc.... **** ....
