trolljunkusa (01/28/2015) [-] I don't think it's possible to have any true "fun" playing the bassoon until you get into professional orchestras because a lot of pieces just give the bassoons the tuba bassline, or the 2nd clarinet part, unless you play in the hall of the mountain king, or you play a not so famous piece called "The bean festival" Which is written around the bassoon (for obvious, flatulence reasons)

notsolonleyisland (01/28/2015) [-] Well, in more recent music, probably. But we are playing an old piece by Percy Grainger, which is very different from what you'd hear in most high school bands. So im sure thats why they have the melody more often.
