I heard him say in an interview one time that what pisses him off are the people that are supposed to be professional chefs who are supposed to know exactly what they're doing are constantly ******* up and not knowing **** about the kitchen. That's why he's such an ass on Hell's Kitchen because the contestants are supposed to be professional cooks. If you watch him, he's never really like scary mean to amateur chefs, kids, etc. I respect the **** out of him for it.
He's a good professional in that sense. I'd be pissed too if people didn't know how to do their job when they should, but I wouldn't go ballistic on a newbie or a kid.
It's the difference between a coach yelling at a pro football player for missing an easy goal and a parent yelling at a kid for missing the same goal.
Especially when it starts getting on in the season. It's understandable the first dinner service, of course they're going to be nervous as **** . But then you've got people that refuse to do anything right even after making the black jacket.
Yep. My boss' husband was trained at Le Cordon Bleu and worked under Ramsey. He says Ramsey is not only a great chef, but great guy and NEVER screams or even really gets upset with anyone. He just sees what needs to be fixed, gets it fixed, and moves on.
ghostninjaguy they tell him who is doing things that he would need to fix in a kitchen setting and he rips them a new one for the sake of the show. He's not like that in a work setting.
I trained at Kendall, and had amazing chefs like Ramsay teach me everything I know. It's an extremely competitive and hard-working environment that requires the utmost care and passion. Chefs notice that in your food.
Well i mean your boss's had the opportunity to train in such a restaurant with such a chef because he must have been professionally great relative to the people he shouts at, i bet if your boss's husband and the kitchen staff behaved and cooked like these contestants do, he would absolutely blow up. I mean possesses more than 10 Michelin stars over many successful restaurants, and he needs to reteach the basics to people who have basically in his eyes been making a mockery of being a professional chef. If you watch alot of the kitchen nightmares you will see constantly contestants have trouble on multiple occasions to determine raw and cooked which is one of the basics of producing safe edible food for the general public. I doubt your anecdote is comparable to the contestants where he does swear at.
I don't know who the "Gordon Ramsey" of bartenders is (my current part-time job that I've been doing for almost 5 years now), but in spite of my experience, I would **** up too if I'd know that (one of) the top bartenders is right behind me judging, not really out of fear of him - but out of fear of disappointing the dude.
American television. "hey what if you splattered it on that guys shirt, you know, because you being an asshole gets us views!' Most shows in other countries like britian just show a cook that knows his stuff and has some awesome stories
You know Gordon Ramsey was doing that **** in Britain for much much longer than he's been doing it in America? You know Hell's Kitchen UK came first right?
He isn't an asshole. He gives credit where credit is due, but hes also very hard on the people that work under him. Hes professional, and while he can be VERY harsh, everyone whos worked under him has said it made them a better chef.
Ehh... He might be a good person, he might not, but that is *not* the most convincing piece of evidence. "It made me a better ____" is basically what you say when your boss is such an asshole that you can't find anything else redeeming to say about them.
Ever heard 'my parent was strict, but it made me a better person?' That means 'my parent beat my ass relentlessly when I made mistakes so I guess yeah technically I stopped making some of those mistakes.'
it was a comment on a mother FJer of a picture whose baby had died, and a bad bruise on her arm was messing with the picture. someone drew a dick on the pic and a red thumb bandwagon/ ********* started. last i saw it had -3500 to -4000 thumbs.
more that he deserves it... me and that other guy with the similar profile pic to me who got ~2500 thumbs down are in this "random red thumb bandwagon" circle, while this guy's in the " **** this guy" circle... plus it got deleted, so...
