Brandenn Bremmer's mother literally thought he was an angel, and has said things like he is going to change the world. I can't find the article right now, but I read somewhere that both one of his close friends and his sister had made comments about his behaviour, and his sister said he had been depressed for a long time. Because of his intellect, he was already at his last years of college, when he died, and he had trouble with "college-life" as only a 14-15 year old boy, which is quite understandable. My point is it's definitely arguable that there were "no signs".

I am from Denmark, but have lived in Thailand for some years, and while I lived there maybe 5 years ago, it was widely popular to get "fake" braces. It looked like normal braces with cosmetic gear, but were purely for cosmetic purposes, and could obviously have serious consequences, because they were done poorly by street vendors usually.

I think this "wisdom" as one might call it is pretty stupid. Everyone with a minimum extent of intelligence knows while nothing matters in an "objective way" people can set their own priorities and try to pursue happiness. Trying to find wisdom as the cause of the correlation between intelligence and suicide rates seems paradox to me since wisdom is a thing that would lead to everything but suicide in most situations. I mean yes if you are clinging to a machine not able to do anything and rotting away it might be a wise choice to ask people to turn that thing off since you can't achieve happiness. But while i agree with the ignorance is bliss part and stupid people not thinking about suicide due to their stupidity i don't think that the lack of "objective meaning" is a concept mainly/mostly/only avaiable to the smarter fraction of our society. I bet most or at least many people we might consider stupid have thought about that before. More likely i guess as analogy being (very) smart is a bit like being on overclock. You think too much, too quickly and the wires melt away. You basically use your faster thinking speed not only on science and stuff but also when overthinking your own life. So i think its less gaining wisdom and more compressing too many thoughts on too little time/having too much concern about things and that making you depressed. At least thats how i might think this suicide thing might be partially explained. I don't have any science to back this up but this is my own assumption based on what i know from people by what they tell me and so on. And obviously thinking speed is a factor when talking about Intelligence.

No pressure from parents can be true, but it's really easy to pressure yourself if you get nothing but praise for your intelligence. A student who's been told that he/she is stupid will be happy to get a C, but one that gets his/her ego inflated by his/her surroundings will be crushed to get a B-.
