The Greek Gods didn't govern their lifes as the Christian/Muslim/Jewish one does, though. They believed that the Gods would look favorably to those who did their jobs, not the ones who worshipped their God the most. We can see that by the fact that Hellenistic cities were best buddies with Rome and other Latin states, in contrast to how Muslims are in feud with Christians despite their religion being very identical. I still feel that kind of religious view is better than thinking they're the all-mighty, cannot-be-bested overlords.
