If you still have people you care about and still have obligations, then you haven't screwed everything up.

The worse place to be is the opposite one--where you're doing fine, but there's no one if your life to care about in the first place. Because then even the biggest success is meaningless.

I often feel the same way, pal. Be grateful that your sense of obligation towards your loved ones is there - it is the true source of meaning and value in your life and will protect you from those times (which we all experience now and then) when you feel as though death would be preferable to going on with the life you have. No matter how worthless you may feel or how pointless you find your day to day existence, know that nothing is more certain in this world than change. And chances are, your situation is better than you think.
