Who the **** just says 'You see that guy over there? I bet he's not very nice' and then you have the opportunity to go 'Actually I am!'
Just saying, this sounds fictitious.

Considering how many times a day it probably doesn't happen that way, it's bound to happen this way occasionally and who knows maybe one of those times made it onto funnyjunk.

Sir, a 16 year old had sex with an 8 year old over 50 times throughout 5 years before getting caught and being sentenced 2 years in prison and you're going to question this story?

Just make him sound like a pretentious ****.
Acts of kindness should just be done, not done for show.

What are you, 12? No one does anything unless it benefits them in one way or another. Just seeing someone else happy benefits you. Doing something good for someone just to make yourself feel like you're different from the other "douchebags" is still benefiting you. Normally, people learn this as they get older but I'm going to spoil it for you because you might end up being a real asshole to good people... It doesn't matter what the reason someone has for doing something good. If everyone did good things that benefit them instead of bad things, then the world would be a much better place.

Feeling good about yourself is the reward, but it shouldn't be the motive.
My point was that the dude had already proven the mother wrong just by giving his seat. If an act of courtesy was really wanted to do it would have been fine if he had just leave it at that, could have made an even stronger case if he left pretending not have overheard their conversation; instead he left an unnecessary remark and give the kid money for no sensible reason, then went ahead and praise himself like a saint on Facebook. The whole sequence of actions are just so very ******* modest it makes one question: Would he still have given the seat if the mother had not made those prejudiced comments?

I never said there isn't something in it for the person doing good, but your way of thinking is just plain sad and cynical. It's like having ethics only because people might judge, or obeying the law just so you don't end up in jail.

There's always someone like you in everyone one of these posts. And you know what I hate most about your kind of attitude? The fact that you completely leave out how big of an asshole the mother was being. You have all of these hindsight tips for the guy but none for the mother not to judge people and be rude like that? God, you are such an asshole. "An eye for an eye makes the world blind" is the stupidest quote I've ever heard.

Proving her wrong was enough, he didn't have to rub his dick in her face. The mother is a bigoted bitche we already established that, but I'm making the point that the dude doesn't deserve all the praise either because his actions just don't seem sincere in any way

He meant that the act of giving the seat away was plenty by itself. Though what op said to the kid was true, children take things funny ways. It might've encouraged disrespect, disobedience, and it was just plain unnecessary.

The argument can also be made that the mother's ****** parenting style would do all of that anyway. What happens when the kid grows up thinking to just judge people based on their appearance alone? He either learns better on his own and harbors that disrespect anyway, or worse...he doesn't.

Story time:

sweeping the floors in a McDonalds lobby and a little girl asked her mom why I was sweeping the floor
"Because this is the job you get if you drop out of school" was her answer

Oh, I'm sorry mam, I graduated from highschool with honors and multiple awards and have this job to pay my college tuition at the #1 school in that state
Meanwhile you are a single mother who brings her daughter here almost every night because you come to watch our TV since you don't have cable at home

That sounds just rude.
You don't ever tell a kid that their parent is sometimes wrong in this situation.
You tell them to not judge others based on their appearances.

No but you can't tell a kid that their parent isn't always right.
You show it to them and let the kid learn that themselves as they grow up.
Otherwise you might as well tell the little **** that santa and the easter bunny aren't real, and that someone somewhere will want to rape and kill him.

Yeeeeaaaahh because those situations are comparable to the situation described in the content...

"You proved to my child that people can be kind regardless of how they look? YOU MIGHT AS WELL HAVE TOLD HIM THAT PEOPLE WANT TO RAPE AND MURDER HIM!"

K...
