This pisses me off. Most of my mum's side of the family have coeliac disease (I haven't been tested yet, but fingers crossed because I ******* love pasta) and people always say to my sister "oh, you're so skinny, you don't need to be doing this fad diet" when she asks for gluten free stuff. Except she's super skinny because of medical complications due to her eating gluten in the first place. People hardly ever seem to realise how serious coeliac disease is because the consequences aren't immediately obvious like with other allergies where your face swells up or something.

My Mum has the type of two diabeetus, she can't even gluten, and a few other things, so she's very selective in her diets and products she buys. She likes to be careful because stupidity isn't a thing we like to practice in our family.

Then one day, shopping with her when I visit to help her bring all the heavy shopping home, she gets verbally diarrhea'd upon by Hipsters who like to be "Mainstream isn't acceptable" when we hit the gluten free part.

She's German. The shop we shop in is where she works. Behind the Deli counter. As a butcher.

If the Hulk was there, he'd be taking notes. That's all I'm gonna say about how my Mum put the fear of angry German women into a Hipster clan that quite frankly needed a wash. Then we carried on shopping and I had to pretend like nothing happened while other customers watched how happy she was that grapefruit was on offer.

If a diet is aimed at specific people with specific dietary needs for medical reasons, keep it that way instead of you're latest hot topic fad with you're Starbuck social circle of single mums alongside vaccines giving kids hereditary hemorrhoids or whatever.

This whole Fad diet is an amazing thing for anyone who actually is a celiac for one MASSIVE reason. Because of this Diet the availability of gluten free stuff has increased dramatically over the past 2-4 years. When you used to only be able to get gluten free products at specialty stores at 3-4X regular price now they are available everywhere, at a significantly reduced price. Most restaurants have a gluten free menu, many even have gluten free pasta and breads now. This makes it so those who actually have Celiacs, like my fiance, can actually go out and eat, and not only be able to eat salad at 90% of restaurants. They can get burgers WITH the bun, and pasta at pasta restaurants. The fad may be dumb, but it is actually a healthy lifestyle choice and greatly benefits anyone with celiacs, so stop bitching because it mildly conveniences you.

Is that really a thing? Eating gluten free when you don't have to? I know someone who actually is intolerant to gluten and it intense bodyloveing sucks, it's just really expensive and you have to be extremely careful about what you eat.
