the sooner you leave behind the anime style the better

I've been starting to try semi-realism, not super great with it

I feel like the hair could be more realistic, OP. Otherwise, I really like it. You're talented.
User avatar #27 to #26 - machinesupreme [OP](11/12/2015) [-]
Yeah, I tried to make it look glossy. Thanks though!

I ain't too smart when it comes to judging art, but this looks good and seems to have had a good amount of work put into it.

As a guy who used to draw I can't help but wish you had her in something other than a hoodie. I used to always draw my characters in hoodies cause you can ignore so much anatomy that way but dont trap yourself like that, always do things you dont think you can do and never stop trying techniques you have never used before.
as for the work itself decent, cant help but feel there is a lot of unnecessary highlighting in the hair and her left shoulder seems a little high.
nice regardless keep it up!
User avatar #38 to #36 - machinesupreme [OP](11/12/2015) [-]
Okay, the left shoulder looks high because she's pulling the hood over. I just picked it because it looks cute

Work on your lines

you can sketch out your drawings by hand and then scan it into your computer and work the rest of the details from there using your sketched out lines as the structure of your drawing

make sure your using layers if your on photoshop
User avatar #32 to #31 - machinesupreme [OP](11/12/2015) [-]
Alright, will do. I'm using Sketchbook Autodesk Pro, and I'm using layers

Wow didn't know autodesk had such a thing

Also if you want to add some simple shading, just get your brush to black and turn down the opacity and just color in where there would be shadows

I use to draw using vector lines, but i eventually stopped because I lost insperation
I am an architect student and i work with their software all the time

this was one of my most recent drawings in my pov there's alot of work to do on it but to yours its probably really good and I use to draw like you, but if you just practice and do some research you'll be good in no time
User avatar #34 to #33 - machinesupreme [OP](11/12/2015) [-]
Okay, I've been using the spraybrush tool and taking darker and lighter shades of the base color then blending it around and it works well enough
User avatar #35 to #34 - polarpulse (11/12/2015) [-]
thats one way to shade, i just use see thru black but i never really used it well on my drawings
User avatar #41 to #35 - machinesupreme [OP](11/13/2015) [-]
That's okay, whatever you feel comfortable with
User avatar #25 - putinlover (11/12/2015) [-]

I like to see that you have a grasp of depth with your shading.

I plan on doing a livestream later today where I work on my next comic. If you'd like to join you're welcome and I can give a few pointers.

there are a couple of line flaws but it looks like something someone actually put effort into
im not an artist but i do know good effort when i see it
Like i draw slightly above average deviant art level
but anyways it looks pretty good
imma sub

Thank you!! It took a few hours, but I was being a bit lazy and didn't clean the lines up

Even though it's realism, try looking up Fine-Art Tips on Youtube, it REALLY helps. Mark Crilley is also really good
User avatar #17 to #16 - Sperit (11/12/2015) [-]

thanks

You can use the art board for this /art/

If you go there and explain us what program you're using or tools, we could help you
User avatar #6 to #4 - machinesupreme [OP](11/12/2015) [-]
Okay, thanks!
User avatar #1 - deadninja (11/12/2015) [-]
idk if its just me but i think dat left shoulder is higher than the right one
User avatar #2 to #1 - mcassio (11/12/2015) [-]
It's just you. It's an illusion created by the fact that you cant see the left one. That, and the bagginess of the hoody.
User avatar #3 to #2 - deadninja (11/12/2015) [-]
i understand thx
User avatar #40 - gayforisaac ONLINE (11/13/2015) [-]

Nice generic ********* .

**** Japan so hard for ruining art forever. We should have never stopped nuking until the country was just dust.
#29 - anon (11/12/2015) [-]
I suggest you drop the "I want my child to be a special snowflake" name for future characters, it will be cringe to you in a few years. Though don't make the name generic either so go with a name that is known but not common, or go with old popular names so to fit with their age. But anyway the arts ok but you need to put more effort or time into it.
