I actually liked Vista.
By the time SP2 was released, it ran flawlessly and quickly on all of my machines, but people were so hung up on its buggy launch they couldn't see what a fine OS it had become.

Windows 7, for all intents and purposes, is rebranded Vista SP2 and thus 7 had a good launch, even though 7 and Vista use 99.99% the same kernel.

I'm willing to bet the exact same thing is going to happen with Windows 9;
Windows 8 has a bad, buggy launch and by the time SP2/3 is launched it will be a decent stable OS that, for the most part, gets largely rebranded to 9, so people will buy it despite their outdated initial impressions of 8.

I've only used Vista once and that was on my mum's first laptop. Hated the thing. I just loved how my secondary school kinda waited it out, all the computers used to run windows XP, they never upgraded to Vista and when Windows 7 came out everything got an upgrade. By all means my school had enough funding to spare for computer upgrades when needed but it's like they knew not to upgrade to Vista.

Was Vista that bad?
I didn't notice much difference from Vista to 7, I figured the reason I didn't hate 7 might just be because I was used to the damn thing asking me if I was sure I wanted to run the program I just clicked every five seconds.
