everything beyond 3.5e isn't worth anyone's time

oh.
oh god, please don't be serious

I think everything after 3.5 is watered down
User avatar #132 to #131 - dndxplain ONLINE (11/07/2015) [-]
everything 3+ is just trash, but at least 5e is trash because it was designed for new players.

3.5 is overcomplicated and underbalanced garbage
User avatar #136 to #132 - tazze (11/07/2015) [-]
I actually prefer 3.0 over 3.5, 3.5 DOES have poor balance, we just normally pick the things from 3.5 that aren't in 3.0 and interest us and rebalance them.
User avatar #137 to #136 - dndxplain ONLINE (11/07/2015) [-]
one word to just absolutely destroy any argument people can have for 3.0

psions.
User avatar #140 to #137 - tazze (11/07/2015) [-]
I've played 3.0 all my life and I've never heard of psions
User avatar #141 to #140 - dndxplain ONLINE (11/07/2015) [-]
it was a core part of 3.0. caster classes that use psychic abilities instead of magic.

they're OP. retardedly OP.

it was one of the only things fixed in 3.5
User avatar #142 to #141 - tazze (11/07/2015) [-]
I think I know the class you refer to, my books are in spanish you see, so we have sorcerer and "mage" which I assume is the psion according to what I can compare to the dnd wiki, it's unusual to see any casters in the games I've played, usually we got a cleric, fighters (warriors, paladins, barbarians) and maybe a bard.

I still don't like how over-simplified 4e feels to me after playing 3.0 all my life
User avatar #144 to #142 - dndxplain ONLINE (11/07/2015) [-]
4e and 5e were designed to be more newbie friendly. that's why they're terrible for veterans but not for newbies.

if you like 3.0 or 3.5 but want a more balanced experience, try pathfinder.
User avatar #145 to #144 - tazze (11/07/2015) [-]
yeah our DM is thinking of switching to Pathfinder, I understand it's pretty similar, still, even I get bored of medieval fantasy-like games and have been trying to convince him to master some Shadowrun or Cyberpunk 2020
User avatar #146 to #145 - dndxplain ONLINE (11/07/2015) [-]
are you a fan of horror?
User avatar #147 to #146 - tazze (11/07/2015) [-]
are you going to propose call of cthulhu? I heard that game is pretty much the DM saying: "okay game's on... survive, ******* ."
User avatar #148 to #147 - dndxplain ONLINE (11/07/2015) [-]
kind of. it's definitely punishing.

but on top of call of cthulhu, you might like World of Darkness or Paranoia
User avatar #149 to #148 - tazze (11/07/2015) [-]
World of Darkness, you mean like Vampire: The Masquerade?

always wanted to try VtM ever since I played the PC game, I'd probably go for a Toreador and enjoy the ********* as everyone tries to hate on me, especially the nosferatu

-Thinking 3.5 was bad
It's not broken,it's "rewarding mastery of the system"

User avatar #126 to #125 - dndxplain ONLINE (11/07/2015) [-]
it's stupid ******* broken, even outside of optimizing.
#127 to #126 - elementfall (11/07/2015) [-]
I remember when our DM wanted to nerf our mage because he was plain OP,
so he gave a scenaristic reason for the guy to change class
the cheeky cunt chosed a 3.5 class, wich could have made him even more broken,AT LVL 1.
Fortunately,the DM modified it.
3.5 is like reading a book made by a flat-earth believer: You just say "what the **** is that" and you don't know if you want to cry or laugh.
User avatar #128 to #127 - dndxplain ONLINE (11/07/2015) [-]
pathfinder is balanced, and actually competant at it.

sure, the wizard can **** time in the ass six ways to sunday, but the fighter can beat the **** out of god with his bare hands
