If you left your son and GF to do ******** like that, I'd be ashamed in you.

Money...
Army...
ha, no.
You could run the risk of not getting much money and have to move all the time when you get back, happens all the time. (at least in America)

with the way this world is going i can see a war starting in the next decade or 2 anyway, it would be horrible to leave my family but there are very little job opportunities where i live and i don't want to provide for my son on benefits because it sets a bad example, i'd rather be making money for my family, than having very little and having to scrimp and scrape for basic necessity, but i want too be around

That's still only 34k at max.

That's a nice amount, but to leave your family is not good...

What about RAF? Better chance of being stationed in the same place for longer, but still get to travel around the world, same skills training opportunities as the Army and more chance of married quarters should you want them.

RAF are more of an air combat unit (obviously) and i dont think id have the skills to get in especially as if im not in an aircraft im going to need another speciality and i dont think that i have any that are applicable to a role in the RAF

You would be surprised, there are many blue roles still available, yes a lot of it is now private contractors but blue roles cover everything from drivers to RAF Regiment ( The RAF's Army ) and even RAF Police, call in at the recruitment centres and have a chat with the guys, they can tell you everything, and look here too: www.raf.mod.uk/careers/
