Muggsy Bogues was drafted by the same team that had Manute Bol on it. Muggsy, the shortest player in the history of the NBA and Manute, the tallest player in the history appeared briefly together before both players were sent to separate teams.
Although being a whole 5'3", Muggsy was one of the leagues premier point guards. He even had two years where he averaged a double-double, or ten or more points and assists. Muggsy was apart of the Charlotte Hornet's team in the early 90's with stars Alonzo Mourning and Larry Johnson. Even though those two were overall better players, Muggsy was the more popular player with fans.
Although Muggsy never made an all star game, his most famous role was probably as one of the NBA stars who got their talent stolen in the hit movie, Space Jam. Muggsy's skills were transfered to the gremlin like "Nawt" who played the point for the Monstars roster.
When he is not dominating the paint for the Chicago Bulls, Pau Gasol spends his time as an ambassador for UNICEF visiting places like Iraq and Central Africa.
When Pau was young, he never liked basketball. He was more of a rugby guy growing up and was annoyed when his parents wanted to him to try basketball. He was more interested in the medical field and was very moved by his parents dedication to their crafts as doctors.
Pau is not the only basketball star in his family. His brother, Marc, is the starting center for the Memphis Grizzlies and a starter in the all star game for the Western conference. This marks the first time that two brothers are starting in the all star game in the same year.
God Shammgod for most of his life went by the nickname Shammgod Wells because of his religious beliefs. When God went to Princeton he had to decide to legally change his name to Shammgod or go by God. He could not come up with the 600 dollar name change fee so it was stuck as God.
Although God was sort of a bust in the NBA he popularized the "Shammgod crossover" which is a huge hit on Youtube and is popular for making the opponent look silly usually breaking the defenders ankles.
Ironically, God became a cult figure because of his name and his insane ball handling abilities. God played a whopping 20 NBA games before moving onto a career overseas.
