I'll admit that I drink alcohol, but I only drink slightly more often than someone who doesn't drink alcohol at all. It's awesome, though, since I can make 2 liters of the stuff last 1-2 years, whereas most of my friends who drink can't make the same last more than 1-2 days.

So, you admit to drinking alcohol on occasion, huh? You disgust me. Just die.

well i get totally wasted at least twice a week and i'm having the time of my life every time. being an introvert i find it hard to talk to people i dont know, but when im drunk i'm much more open. found a lot of good friends this way. i'm really wondering how so many people on this site got no friends at all, just get wasted with some guys and it happens all by itself.

If you're only able to socialize when drunk, then the friends you've made aren't your friends. They're your drunk self's friends.

That's not true for all cases at all, just because you meet someone when you're drunk doesn't mean you won't have anything in common with them, he's saying alcohol makes it easier for him to interact and therefore actually meet people he shares common interests with, those common interests don't just vanish as he sobers up.

thats no way to live. relying on alcohol to make you into a more social person is a terrible idea. if anything, it will make you a less responsible, careless person. thats all bad if you are just hanging with your friends or whatever but if the intention is to build social relationships, you'll do that a lot better when you are sober and thinking clearly.

and dont tell people to get hammered to make friends, thats just dumb. really.

Living without friends is no way to live. If he needs to be inhibited to meet new people, that's fine as long as he doesn't need to stay drunk to maintain those relationships. As a university student, I've met a lot of people on my drunk weekends. But I interact with them mostly during the week when I am sober. Alcohol isn't as bad as you believe it is.

I find it hard to hit on girls or make the move at the right time but you're right, when you're drunk you kind of just run on autopilot, and if you say something dumb usually nobody remembers. If you do end up saying something moderately funny everyone thinks its the funniest joke in the world.

If you stopped drinking, would they still be your friends?

It would be better to actually work on talking to people instead of relying on a crutch.

Honestly I never used to drink and had maybe 3 good friends and was socially awkward. I started drinking 2 years ago and I can confidently say that was the best decision of my life. I've made too many friends to count, every weekend I have the time of my life and basically the last 2 years have been better than the first 18 combined.

I just got wasted for the first time last Saturday. It was probably one of the most interesting experiences of my life.

>boyfriend comes over to stay the night
>we begin to play COD World at War for the heck of it
>he decides to break out the Scotch he brought over
>i've never really drank before so I'm kind of nervous
>**** it
>down a glass of Scotch and Coke
>continue playing COD
>continue drinking
>playing this game becomes increasingly more difficult and increasingly more hilarious
>there's no stopping me
>he's still completely sober but i'm ********* at this point
>i'm pausing the game every 5 seconds because i'm so dizzy and i can't pay attention to the tasks at hand
>keep getting killed as well
>we both decide it's best we stop playing because we're not going anywhere with this
>shut off the game

>he begins to browse the internet and tells me Ryan Gosling has died (he's not really dead, bf was just ******* with me)
>idk who that is but I know it's someone famous
>proceed to get really ******* upset
>cry for 20 minutes
>tell bf he should have had sex with one of his lesbian friends because she is pretty
>he's falling asleep
>tells me to come to bed
>i tell him to **** off and that I want to keep talking
>i lay down on the floor
>pretty comfortable
>fall asleep and have the best sleep of my life
>wake up next morning refreshed

To say the least, it was a very interesting experience. 10/10, would recommend.

why is it that you can only have fun by drinking?

this is the question that no one who drinks knows how to answer.
when you are drunk, is that the real you? or is it "drunk you"?

If its the real you than why are you such an ass
if its not the real you, but instead "drunk you" than why cant you have fun just by being yourself?

People always tell me when I decline drinking "you gotta get that head change man. its all about the head change" or "dude just loosen up and have a drink"

But nobody ever gives me a reason as to why you are supposed to drink other than the vague "to have fun" excuse.

I have been to a few parties, and have just felt disgusted by the state at which people leave themselves in the pursuit of this "fun". I closely watched everyones actions and came to the conclusion that its all for attention. They do the dumbest things just to garner attention.

so, if someone could answer this question for me that would be grand...
Why do you drink? Why are you supposed to get Drunk? If its not the real you when you are drunk than why cant you just have fun by being yourself?

I seldom have fun, drunk or sober. The tingling, relaxing sensation after a big, strong drink feels really good. After the third drink none of my many problems seem that bad... And that alone would make me a raging alcoholic if I didn't kept a pretty short rein on my drinking.
Playing a game or watching a movie while drinking and nobody bothers me is basically the best thing I know.

my uncle completely broke his family apart with alcoholism. He always thought he had "tight reins on his drinking" as well.

I am here to tell you that no matter how in control of your primal instincts you THINK you are (in your case intake of something that "makes you feel good") you really cant control it? just like being scared and telling yourself to not be, no matter how hard you try, you will continue until there is reason to stop.

and for drinking the only reason to stop is for tragedy of either self harm, or harming of others to occur.

but it was "fun" wasnt it? No? cant remember? probably all the booze...

also, how does it enrich the experience at all? it just makes everything fuzzy and distorted in a sense. they say that ignorance is bliss, but knowing exactly what you're doing and being able to have those moments in your memory is much more rewarding.
also, how does being "wasted" or hungover feel good?

I'm not sure how to explain it, but I'll tell you how I feel.
When I drink, I'm still in control of what I do, but I just seem to care less about worries and consequences.
I guess that's where the fun part is; where it's easier for me to act with less care.
I might regret it, but so far, I haven't done anything harmful, so I feel fine.
