I have volume at half usually, and because john cena **** is super distorted (odd-order harmonic distortion = unpleasing to the ear), and it goes on for a long time and is constant and is at +6dB it scares me and hurts my ears (also because it's higher in pitch). This stuff here is just talking and sine, cosine and sawtooth waves. I dunno. Maybe it has to do with headphone frequency response or EQ or something. I have 200€ studio headphones and run a flat EQ with no DSP effects or anything.
And I'm 30 and a semi-professional musician, so maybe my ears aren't as fit as yours.
