When you want to be remembered as an accomplished engineer/scientist, but will forever be remembered as "the guy who blew crap up"

I'll always rememeber him as the guys with the beret.

A lot of their tests after the first few seasons were extremely unscientific. They ran out of good myths to bust.

>watching mythbusters for science.
You're telling me you don't watch the show to see the Savage man tame the Walrus?

Most of their tests were plenty scientific. 'Unscientific' is a really vague way to describe something. You can test something silly, but as long as you're following the proper methodology, you are being 'scientific.' If anything, they got a bit better at the scientific parts at things went on, even though they were definitely testing sillier and sillier things.

The only things they occasionally lacked in the 'scientific' department are sample size and elimination of extraneous variables.

they're not scientists/engineers they are really good special effects guys.
User avatar #73 to #66 - dentalfloss (01/12/2016) [-]
Like making good special effects doesn't involve science and engineering...

it's just a different job profile, that's all i'm saying.

Jamie has a doctorate in Engineering from Villanova. Also, Adam Savage was born and raised in my town (Sleepy Hollow, NY)

Actually, its an honorary degree. His actual degree is in Russian linguistics.

I stand corrected. My second point still stands

New York State mentioned. Swell with geographical diversity and people asking me if I'm from the city.

because they just aren't.
they have said that on numerous occasions.
building cool stuff =/= being an engineer.

a skilful contriver or originator of something:
"the prime engineer of the approach"

They fit the bill. Also, Jamie has a degree in engineering so you're just wrong.

A good way to be remembered as an accomplished engineer/scientist is being an engineer or scientist, they're not trying to be scientists or engineers and they've said this a lot, they're basically taking things that are already known and demonstrating it in a badass way. They don't want to be known as scientists or engineers, but they do hope they inspire more people to scientists and engineers.
User avatar #21 to #2 - Riukanojutsu (01/12/2016) [-]
Maybe saying "In doubt, use C4" was not the way to go to be remembered for being a good engineer/scientist
User avatar #55 to #3 - europe (01/12/2016) [-]
I thought his work was mostly theoretical?
#37 to #3 - anon (01/12/2016) [-]
But he's much more remembered for the scientific aspects.

I would say the inventor of Rice Krispies, aka J. Robert Oppenheimer, is more famed for blowing stuff up as opposed to physics then Einstein is.
#64 to #11 - angelious ONLINE (01/12/2016) [-]
meanwhile, that one guy who was famous for inventing stuff to blow **** up is remembered for peace and prosperity
User avatar #49 to #11 - miscreant (01/12/2016) [-]
Am I completely misreading you or are you saying Oppenheimer invented Rice Krispies? If so, source?
#50 to #49 - sgtmajjohnson (01/12/2016) [-]
I was referencing this picture. See, because the Japanese eat a lot of rice?
User avatar #52 to #50 - miscreant (01/12/2016) [-]
No wonder I didn't find **** .
Funny stuff, thanks for the explanation.
User avatar #48 to #11 - jonandstuff (01/12/2016) [-]
I agree with you, but most people might not know Oppenheimer as well as the easier to remember Einstein. I think the reason the general public know Einstein so much better is because his name is the word for being smart. Baby Einstein, and etc.

I love Oppenheimer though, cool guy, to say the least.
User avatar #51 to #48 - sgtmajjohnson (01/12/2016) [-]
Oh, yeah. I'm not saying Oppenheimer's as well known as Einstein, just that he's more famed exclusively for blowing **** up, while Einstein's known for special relativity and all that.
