Shout out to all my viking brethren, no matter what part of scandinavia you're in, not only for not having to pay for applications but for being paid to go to school.

In the UK you also have to pay for your university application to be sent to the universities you're applying to.

paying $70 to apply to a top tier school that gives you the opportunity to make 6 figures right out of college seems fairly insignificant to me

Not true, in the UK a UCAS Application (5 Applications to UK universities) Costs around £30, Not sure if it's a ridiculous price in the US but it seems reasonable since the UCAS company needs to make some sort of income.

Personally it's because we have a ******** of private universities. And I think they ought to charge whatever they want, however 70$ for an application for housing in a public university is ******* ******** .

I swear to god they try to milk every cent with application and miscellaneous fees in California.

'I think they ought to charge whatever they want'
Then you complain that they are charging to much?

In America's defense, we pay about $20 for a driver's license but read the spoiler for how much it cost in the UK

To get a full UK driving license, you must first apply for a provisional license which costs £50 ( $83.22 ). You have to pass a driving theory test which costs £31
( $51.60 ) and a practical driving test which costs £62 ( $103.19 ) You will also need to buy lessons which can cost between £10 (16.64 ) and £35 ( $58.25 ) per hour depending on who teaches you. There are no rules as to how many lesson you will need. If you have never driven before you will need to budget in the region of £700-£1000. ( $1165.08-$1664.40 )

And why? Taxes.
Yeah, I hate paying $35-$50 to see if I can get into college
In which I am given a chance to get a scholarship to that can
take a lot of the price off if I try hard enough to get them.
