>First song is about rapper/rap group doing/selling drugs, murdering people, stealing cars, robbing stores, and how hard they are for doing so
>Second song is about why cops are evil and deserve to be shot for arresting them for these crimes
actually
Ice Cube was never really a gangsta. He just knew a lot about that life due to his friends.
He's more of the ghetto journalist, using the gift of his lyricism to tell the stories of Compton.
The point of Cube's music was to shine a light on the ghetto and tell the world "Yo. Look at this **** ? what the **** are we gonna do to fix this?"
Notice how when you compare NWA members, Ice Cube is the one who glorifies gang life the least?
Well, Windows is an OS.
It is many, many people beliefs that OSes should be free.
Most people don't even know OSes cost anything, they just get a prebuilt.
Windows is monolithic, generally unpleasant and is trying to shoehorn itself where it doesn't belong. I technically own two copies of Windows, one Home Premium, one Professional, but Windows makes it so I have to do all sort of stupid **** to get the code I need to actually ******* use them on a working computer.
And yes, this is completely legal, it's just MS makes it intentionally difficult and forces you to buy an entire new copy to use something you ******* own.
You bet your ass MS owes me a free OS, but after the ************ it pulls, such as corrupting 2 hard drives (I installed Ubuntu over each of them and no, they're not broken, Windows just doesn't know how to deal with more than 30 gigs of data), forcing me to revive two old laptops to get product keys I need to use pieces of software I own anyway, generally being a nuisance, inability to interface with any other system, while all others interface with it.
AND VIRUSES, I don't think it's worth more than any other OS, which are free, all except very specific enterprise systems.
TL;DR Windows ***** up your computer, tries to extort more money out of you, and is generally less compatible than others. Therefore, I think pirating Windows isn't bad, if not kind of good.
So, just because someone's a rich lawbreaker we shouldn't pay for their products?
Let's all thank Bill Gates for the free computers. You know, because of that thing where he was straight up caught stealing code from Apple, and didn't even take their copyright stuff out of the commit? I also realize, that Microsoft doesn't make computers, the make software/firmware. Which I pirate.
It's more making fun of the unjustified hypocrisy. It would be like me stealing a few things from a store, writing a best selling novel, then bitching when it's stolen itself. It's hypocritical in that I stole in the past and unjustified with me being rich and also having stolen in the past.
Rapper brags about being rich = obviously doesn't need more money
Rapper brags about breaking the law = obviously doesn't respect the law when it doesn't benefit him, why should we respect the law just to give him more money
I have a habit of finding good music on Bandcamp that nobody else listens to you'd think it's full of some hipster-tier stuf, but there's actually plenty of good rock and folk artists , so I have to buy it. And I gladly do so, since these guys put a lot of effort into their music and get like 10-50 bucks in the end.
That's worth it at least, I'd much rather support a small timer who probably makes music mostly as a hobby than someone who's already made obscene money doing...what ever it is they do to make money.
Yeah, man, as far as I know there's a concrete formula for making money on pop-stars. And yeah, they say that the guy himself doesn't get much money and most of it goes to producers, but holy **** do they live a good life even if they get only 10% of all the profits.
Well it was my friends' album release party and as there are always people at venues who like the music but won't put a couple bucks down for the album (but don't mind paying $5 for a rainier) I bought a bunch and gave them out to cool people. It's a good way to spread the word and I had some extra cash.
Yeah, at my friends' album release - bought a bunch and gave them out to cool people who wouldn't have bought them anyway. It's a pretty good way of getting the word out and helping my friends.
**uberbunk used "*roll picture*"** **uberbunk rolled image** Generally I just use spotify, but if I really like a band I'll put down ten bucks for their album, support and whatnot.
Pirate onto phone, connect with auxiliary cable in car
**** , I use Spotify and Soundcloud. Those work well for me and I don't even have to pirate or clog up my storage. I rarely download music these days since I always have a service available to me for free. Sometimes I use YouTube on the go, but I limit that. At home I almost exclusively use YouTube for music. I only pirate games, movies also not as much because of Netflix. Paid service but worth the price , and certain software.
yeah, i like having the cd in physical form on my shelf i´m about to buy some more, just need to check the prices at the local stores befor i buy them online
But what if you want the artist to get money so they can keep making the music you like
Also album artwork is cool to look at I think pirating is ok and shouldn't be illegal but if u can afford to buy it and you pirate it its just kind of a dick move.
walk up to them personally and give them 5 dollars. tell them "thank you for your service" they love that **** , circumvents those money grubbing third party services.
Ah yes let me just track down where my favorite band lives and hunt them down to give them money instead of just buying the damn album.
I agree that the 3rd party music industry is cancerous as **** but its the best way for artists to get their stuff out there.
If that's the only reason you know you could just burn music onto blank CDs. Though it still costs money to get the CDs obviously it's a hell of a lot cheaper.
I could do that, but having thousands of songs that would otherwise cost me hundreds of dollars for feels better. Not to mention they get almost no money from them, hurts them as much as watching a movie over our friends house hurts the movie industry.
whats the ******* point of pirating music anymore? 99% of anything even semi major is on youtube, just watch it there, deal with a 10 second ad and help out the people you like listening to
honestly you should buy music because the files used on a CD are lossless and are of the highest quality. if $7 is the difference between ****** mp3s and a perfect WMA, it's worth it.
I always buy CD's, it's better than going through youtube and putting a song on replay for 40 times till you hate it because i usually end up listening to the whole album instead
I only buy from up and coming artist or those that aren't on kat or tpb. Seriously I couldn't find "The Lab Rats" anywhere, they only released like 2 albums and one was on itunes but the second I was only to find a few songs, not even a full tracklist
