When I got accepted into grad school for teaching he sent me an email congratulating me. I have no idea how he knew I was a fan of his or how he got my email but it was easily one of the coolest things ever.

This is something I'm very concerned with...

True.

I like teaching, but I don't think I could take an extra year of school on top of college.

My American Studies teacher was getting her masters last year and she wouldn't shut the **** up about it. I couldn't tell if she was just being whiny or it was some kind of hell.

Like I said, it isn't a requirement. If you are trying to do any special positions though like Literacy, speech therapy, or inclusion it going to be hard to get one without the master's in a lot of places.

Hell no, I'm just thinking about plain old secondary ed. History is what i like, so that can't be too crazy...

Any idea what the job climate's like for history teachers, though? I hear mixed things from "guaranteed" work to "good luck."

I want to be an English Teacher, Because:
1: Not much else you can do with an English Diploma, other than Write, and that doesn't do much for the whole "I need to feed myself and family"
2: I love kids, seriously, they are one of my favorite kind of people, right next to Dogs, cause Dogs are the ****, man
3: I want Graphic Novels to be treated as such, novels, so what if they have pictures in them, they decrease the amount of the pages needed for all the setting and describing of people, and I think if I get them hooked while they're young, they can bring the comicbook age back, not just because of the movies
4: I like to play god and mold young minds in the direction I feel is needed
5: I decide what's on the test, ME!!!

Introducing: Secondary Education!!!

Highschool must be so much easier to teach... I teach 1st graders Sunday School to see what teaching might be like later on and it's hard with just 12 kids.

But hell, what you MAKE is not the issue... It's still fun.

I have had dynamics since last semester in uni by two different lecturers and for some reason both of them are cool and kinda crazy. They're the most fun teachers I've ever had, they make the subject interesting and actually explain it very well.

Most teachers are **** at their jobs and do do what they do as back up plan after realizing thats their best option at a career with their useless English or History degrees. I can think of 2 teachers that had any sort of impact on my education and that was just because they stayed out of my way and were good people. 2 teachers out of around 60 that I've ever had.

One teacher can make all the difference. My chemistry teacher went out of his way to help me with AP chemistry when I was having trouble. The after I built up my confidence, he pushed me to go beyond the minimum. Then I pushed myself in other subjects. All this because of one teacher.

You must have had a ****** school district. I've moved and gone to many different schools in many different places, and every time I mostly had great teachers who actually loved teaching- partly because my parents chose good school districts and partly I guess because I was lucky. Now that I'm older, I know many people that could get high paying jobs but choose to teach, not because they fail at everything else but because that's what they love to do.

Long rant short, while I feel for you and your ****** time at school, please don't judge all teachers based on your bad luck. "Most teachers" are not "**** at their jobs," and many actually made big sacrifices just so they can make a difference in kid's lives.

I agree, to be honest, I vaguely remember elementary and middle school teachers, but out of all my high school teachers, I've had maybe 3 or 4 teachers that I actually admired and loved talking/listening to. The rest do their job ok but not very efficiently and then there's the rest I just loathe because of how ****** they are.

this is EXACTLY why people should be optimistic. Every ******* person in the world should believe that he can do whatever he wants and be proud of the will that drives him forward. I live in a ******** on a level that you can't imagine (an ex-soc eastern european country) but my mother was optimistic, work hard and tried everything and she was able to go out of country and earn a lot of money in Germany in a time, when everyone believed that you should "know someone" to do this. She did it on her own without "knowing" anyone. I was thinking that there is no way that I would be ever able to follow my dream and work in game development, but thanks to following her lead and just trying, yesterday I signed a contract for a new job as a QA with a salary that exceeds anyone in the family right now. **** anyone who just assume that no matter what they do **** will stay the same. We got to stand for our ideals, for the things we love and make a good life for ourselves and, by doing this, we'll be able to make people around us happy too.

Experience is experience, and I was only using that as an example. Living in Florida, I know how bad the job market is since we've got about jack here, but volunteering for a lot of things can teach a guy a lot of useful skills. Try volunteering for one job once a month for a year and see how many different skills you accumulate through it, and put skills you think would be necessary for a job on your resume or application afterward.

To be honest, he has a point. One can live a decent life but still be starkly reminded of the ********** of the world any day of the week, any week of the month, any month of the year

he takes quotes ad draws them
he doesnt actually make anything
he gives an image to words
and if you want the world to be a better place
you need more people who are optimistic

If only teachers actually did this instead of just coming into school and doing a half-assed job

Well this is nice and all but most teachers are not this passionate about their job. In fact in my 12 years of school I only had one teacher who was like this. In fact , the majority of the teachers iv had shouldn't be allowed to teach.

It's nice and all, but I don't ******* understand why the artist portray him as a madcunt dude. I mean, well why not just answer the other dude's question casually with a smart answer? or even with joke? Calm yo' tits ******.

Mfw if I ever see person goes ******* like that just because a small thing like that.

I think the artist portrayed the teacher as being fed up with the way teachers are treated. The comic did show how his profession and passion was being ridiculed right in front of him. Was more of a defensive thing than a being an asshole, in my opinion.
