math. it has been observed that this spiral thing can be seen in nearly everything from galaxies to trumps hair.... other than that its math and i dont speak no math.

So its a little difficult to explain without a bit of math knowledge but it essentially grows by the fibonacci 1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21,34,55... Every next number in the sequence is the previous two added together sequence at every quarter turn. Its used in greek building and found in things of nature like sea shells and pinecones

I believe it has to do, in regards to architecture, structural integrity and strength. Not sure on that bit, I havent studied it too much at college and I havent dont much at all with building

It's the Fibonacci Sequence/Spiral, more commonly known as the Golden Ratio. If you start with a sequence where you intend to have the next object in the sequence to be the size of the sum of the two previous objects sizes, this is what you'd end up with. The numbers in the picture is related to the total length of any side of the square it inhabits. If we continued this sequence until we got as close to infinity as possible and took two numbers that were next to each other and divided the biggest by the smallest, the number we would get is 1.6180.... This number is representative of an insane amount of relationships in nature; The shape of plants, animals behavioral patterns, the shape of galaxies, the human body, etc.

The concept was used a lot during the Renaissance by painters as they considered it to be of "Divine beauty".
