lyrics I put it on rollie, I'm drinkin' straight lean, a bitch is straight feelin' my diamonds
I'm rollin' specific, my ***** you countin' my **** , but that **** out my dome, burrrrt
Give it some time, diamonds, some ****** and rum
None of this money and no place to put it: hakuna matata (turn up!)
I tell all of you ****** , my family, I tell you, I tell you I love you
Now, tell all your family right there when I say, when I say that I love you
I done came with these bands with my ****** and ****** is callin' me crazy
I went to the doctor, he looked at my dick and he said I got rabies.
A lotta ***** tryna figure out
She gonna do a ***** , big? I know
I'm on the jury duty's corners standin' big, I know
I'm standin' big, I know, I want it big, I know
I know, I know
I know, I know, I got it big, I know
I know, I know, I got it big, I know
I got it big, I know
I got it big, I know
I got it big, I know
I know, I know
Waaaait waaait, BVB isn't scream xD, and Blood on the dance floor was **** even then, but I did listen to Brokencyde, and what ended up being metalcore.... Also I'am a boy
it was, people are just making lyrics out of gibberish lol. all the things he actually said is all the " ***** "s, the hook's "bitch I know", the dick rabies part to show you can get away with saying anything when making it sound good and "hakuna matata" on the end of some line just to see if people will catch it
since when is acting completely retarded something to be proud of..if this is how the US media portrays black people ??..holy **** no wonder they came up with "black lives matter".. something iam not sure about anymore XD seriously WTF is this ****
This is what separates Hopsin from the other mainstream rappers these days. He's pretty much making fun of how all they talk about is bitches, money, drugs, and money. Half of the time they don't even make sense because they don't even put effort into their songs. THIS is the reason why people hate hip-hop/rap so much.
Some people don't know that there is some rap songs that have actual meaning to it or inspire you.
Rap is defined so wrong by many of today's popular 'rappers'.
But try listening to others, there are many rappers that are real as **** and are lyrically brilliant. Aside from the obvious few Eminem, Kendrick, J. Cole etc. I feel MGK, Knowmads, Lil Dicky (Yes, this guy is pretty brilliant, given he is somewhat if an anti-rapper though) and Immortal Technique. The last one has written one of the darkest songs I know.
He's definitely one of the most underrated rappers there is. I don't listen to him a lot but every time I hear something by him it's ridiculously good.
**Sevenseas used "*roll picture*"** **Sevenseas rolled image**Try listening to Eminem, Yellow Wolf, Beardy Man (if you like story telling, not really rap though), there's another but I can't think of it atm.
Yo I usually wouldn't do this, because if I'm wrong I'll look like a ******* moron, but I believe by Yellow Wolf you mean Yelawolf right? If not hit me with your pinkies!
I would assume so. Yelawolf is the **** . I hate most of his older stuff becuase it's all just nonsense rap, but some of Trunk Muzic, Radioactive, and Love Story are amazing because it's rap with a story.(The only good rap) He really only blew up as he has because he switched to real rap.
And holy **** , all the people that say Eminem is overrated or old, DON'T KNOW **** .
Headlights, Legacy, Seduction, Cinderella Man, We Made You, Old Time's Sake, all of it. Almost every song he makes is rap with a story. Even the crazy ones in Relapse, they all tell a story about him or someone else. **** , You're Never Over, about Proof and the friends he's lost over the years, try to find a line in that song that doesn't contribute to the story.
**** , dude. All these guys sprawling about "real rap" when all they say is nonsense. How can people be this stupid?
Mmmmyeeaaaah, let's not get a **** tone of purple lines started talking about Eminem. He's become an artist that's the acception to the rule about good rap, such that even though it's "good rap" it's really just bad now. He used to be the example for rap for the mainstream to show people rap could be good. Now he's not an example anymore and everyone thinks rap sucks again. After MMLP2 took a nose dive with the core fans opinions he kinda started to fall off. Some people think he fell off sooner than that. Em himself thinks he fell off right around Encore because of the lack of critical praise it got compared to his first three albums (check out "Careful What You Wish For" on Relapse: Refill). I would not put "Headlights" up there with the rest of the songs you listed myself.
**Sevenseas used "*roll picture*"** **Sevenseas rolled image**You are correct good sir, I spelled it the "white way" as I've heard it called. (Literally when I've made this mistake in the past because my dumb ass cant remember names properly people have told me that it's extremely white and I was like... okay?)
**Sevenseas used "*roll picture*"** **Sevenseas rolled image** I have no idea, and even if I did I wouldn't tell you because it was a randomly rolled picture.
Immortal tchnique, Joey Bada$$, Kendrick Lamar, Diabolic (He's done a few tracks with immortal technique, he goes hard and is white), non-phixion, tech n9ne, Childish Gambino (Donald Glover), Ab-Soul, ScHoolboy Q, J. Cole as some. these are basically my favorite rappers currently, and they (for the most part) are 'real' rappers, and not trash rappers
It's sad to say but I cant listen to Eminem anymore. There just isn't as much emotional power in his lyrics anymore. Don't get me wrong, he's a great artist.
Like anon said. He still has some amazing songs with emotional power. Personally, I don't think he can ever make a song more emotionally powerful than You're Never Over. Still, Headlights, the song about his mom, I cried when I heard it first time. Might be because I can relate, but still. And then Kings Never Die has that personal spin he likes to put where it's a sponsored song, but he just goes on about his life.
Brah. Mockingbird, Hailey's Song, Careful What You Wish For, Like Toy Soldiers, and goddammit if you didn't include Stan you're no fan. Stan is the absolute epitome of emotion that Em has ever produced. You do not hear that in Headlights.
I'd also like to mention Kim, but I don't want to give any kiddies nightmares.
Never really liked rap. I remember my sister would try to get me to listen to Hopsin. Never digged him. But I am digging this. Never gave the guy the chance he deserved but I think I will now. I will always love Childish Gambino and Chance the Rapper. They also make some very meaningful songs. I would include Kid Cudi but I personally dont think he is a rapper. He does what he wants to no matter what. I love all of his stuff. Especially his song Love. Really helped me out through some dark times. And on top of that he made a beat and put a JFK speech over it. It is really coold and inspiring. JFK PSA if anyone was wondering.
Was listening to feather when I saw this. A+ recommendation, it really got me to appreciate chill hip hop. Before then I really couldn't listen to more than one song at a time.
**yunch used "*roll picture*"** **yunch rolled image** I used to hate rap because of the sick morals and crappy lyrics it used to spew out, but this dude's legit good.
I don't like Hopsin because lyrically other underground rappers like Earl Sweatshirt leave him in the dust, and his subject is really just poking at the surface level of what modern rappers rap about. My favorite rapper will always be Vince Staples because he raps very similair to how NWA or old school Ice Cube would rap, except with clearly some darker tones in his newer songs.
**tonyredgrave used "*roll picture*"** **tonyredgrave rolled image** I appreciate the style, sound, and overall feel. The voice ruins it for me though. Still, 8/10.
I've never looked for rap of any kind because whenever I heard it anywhere it was always a really nazely voice complaining about something and screaming. So for years I thought all rap was like that until I heard some songs where the rapper had a deep voice and was (relatively) well spoken, or at least you could make out the words and there was actually a meaning for the most part. Now I still don't listen to or look for rap, but I will admit that the entire genre ins't complete garbage and there are (I assume) some solid people in rap.
I just got into modern rap, used to only listen to classic hip hop, so far so good, been listening to Kendrick Lamar and J Cole, but never heard of this guy ,this song just went up in the favorite chain.
indeed, and it hurts my heart that so many people dont listen to rap because all the rap they know is the **** in the radio...and i was one of those people. but its not wierd that so many people feel that it is **** music, because it is on the edge to not being music i would say.. with ALOT of famous rappers.
but give it a chance there has been and are still alot of great rap out there.
Don't get me wrong, I love Hopsin, but people who complain about rap being stale, boring or whatever...dude have you even looked? I mean just look below at all of the suggestions.
Look at Hopsin, Eminem, Tech N9ne. Check out Kendrick Lamar, ¡Mayday!, Childish Gambino, Nas, etc. Like the older stuff? Give a peak at Tupac, Notorious BIG. Like the thug music? You got people like 50 Cent, Rakim's pretty solid as well.
Yes, There certainly ARE bad rappers out there, and they are most of what's wrong with radio rap, but saying that even most rappers are bad is a misnomer. Mainstream doesn't /want/ rap. They want music to listen to in the background, not poetry meant to stir feelings & emotions. They don't want to actually hear the words, it's all about the beat and attitude with a catchy hook they can sing along to.. That's mainstream music - that's always mainstream music.
That's why Stan was never played on the radio while I'm Slim Shady was a massive hit. That's why Nicki Minaj is holding like 3 of the top 6 spots on the radio, while so many people don't even know who Hopsin is. That's just the way it is.
There are more good rappers than bad, they simply don't chart well.
plenty of good rappers chart well
drake and kendrick for example
J cole had a huge album drop last year
kendricks new album blew up, drakes 2 albums this year both got 1st on billboard 100
tbh i dont like hopsin, just complains about rap but hes not that good.
Another factor that no one looks at is the production. If the beat is good but the song sucks, then that means the producer did good work. They dont get a lot of credit. A lot of the reason "good" rappers are underground is because they dont get good producers.
Knowing how to get famous is a part of being a good rapper.
I have personally never been impressed by Drake's raps, so I find it very..odd you call Hopsin bad and Drake good, when one of Drake's 'best' songs has about 7 words in it. "Started from the bottom now we here"... exaggerating a bit, but it has no real substance.
I mostly listen to more modern hip-hop but I don't really care for Future or Migos or Young Thug and other people this is directly parodying.
You're really cherry picking with Drake there. He's got a lot of really good stuff. Marvin's Room, Headlines, Pound Cake( gotta love JayZ's cake verse)
Just..thusfar everything I've heard from him is either bad or he simply makes the track worse for being there. Nicki's Moment 4 Life is made so much worse by his presence, for example. To be fair, the track he did with Eminem wasn't really terrible...but I still wouldn't place that anywhere near my top 10 list of songs.
This is what music should be, something that has some kind of message or meaning. In my opinion at least. Not the biggest fan of rap for various reasons, but this song got to me.
Nah, some music just wouldn´t be good if it was "happy-mood-music" - there are just some artists that are amazing but would never be great if they tried to sing about happy things. Stuff like La Dispute, Sage Francis or O´Death are amazing especially because they make sad music.
Just think about your comment: Imagine authors would only use their talents to make people happy...all the incredible, tragic books and stories wouldn´t be a thing.
That makes me think of Stromae's music. He sings about some pretty harsh/sad situations, like in Papaoutai ("Dad, where are you?") or Alors on Danse ("So we dance").
Hopsin, Logic, and Chance who, granted, sounds kinda retarded sometimes, but his style is refreshing are probably my favorite modern rappers right now.
I find it really hard to compare rap like Em's to rap like Tupac's. I actually have a hard time judging them both, as I hate some of Em's pop tracks and I can't stand some of Pac's more hardcore rapping, especially later when he kinda started rapping too much about bitches in the bad way. I got nothing against a ***** that appreciate the ladies, but his lyrics were really foulmouthed for no reason at times.
I am not the real person to judge those two rappers, as I like rap with a chill flow, like Logic, Chance, and some of the Wolfgang rappers, especially Tyler and Earl.
Yeah, but it's all a matter of what you like and what you can relate to. I can relate to being on the streets to fend for yourself and coming from a ****** background, but I can't relate to gangbanging and **** like that. That is probably why I prefer rap that tackles issues in society and that talks about the little man, compared to rapping about gangs and organized crime. Also, I have way too little confidence, and experience, in my ladies-game to appreciate those kind of sex-lyrics.
I'm sure that's purely an opinion. For examples, Billy the Fridge is my current favourite, so I'd say he's the best
Idk, it's music. You can't really just say something is objectively better than something else. Applies extra with rap imo.
Hopsin is a joke when it comes to lyricism, he is nowhere near Kendrick Lamar or Earl Sweatshirt. I enjoy a lot of trap music, what Hopsin is portraying here is **** like Young Thug and Future, although both of those artists are currently making bank off of garbage they are (sort of) smart business men. Taking advantage of their position and continue to milk the industry for ridiculous profits whilst literally doing nothing.
You want real hiphop, listen to Mick Jenkins, Joey Bada$$, Mac Miller, Ab-Soul or even Jay Rock.
I used to reaaaaaaally like Childish Gambino until I realized how god damn whiny he is. Kendrick easily tops any other rappers right now period (Even if I got love for Cole, West and Based god MC Ride
HOPSIN is so overrated. He's a decent rapper with cool lyrics, but he isn't even anything special. I used to praise the guy, but then he said he was gonna quit rapping, and then it turns out it was a "joke" aka. he wanted publicity, which was when he became just another rapper for me.
Chance the Rapper is my favorite chill rapper, Ice Cube is my favorite hardcore rapper and Watsky is my favorite... well... PG-friendly rapper that's still a real mofo.
What I am basically getting at is that he is a cool ***** with lyrics that are anti-drugs and *********** mentality, but there's tonnes of those guys out there. I no longer feel like he is real, if you know what I'm saying.
Eh, a little thing like that I'd just assume there's more to it than that behind the scenes. I never really listened to Hopsin as much more that a decent rapper with a couple really good songs myself anyways. I listen to Aesop Rock more.
He wrote on his social media pages that he was gonna quit rapping, then went silent for a week or a month, I don't remember, and then released a "funny" Youtube-video, where they revealed that he was "back".
There´s incredible stuff out there - Hopsin isn´t even anywhere close to the better rappers around. Slug, Sage Francis, Brother Ali, B.Dolan, Atmosphere, Busdriver, Open Mike Eagle, Ill Bill, Scroobius Pip, hell, there´s so much great stuff out there - it´s really only some few mainstream-rappers that suck and make people think the whole genre sucks.
Especially the point made about lyrics - people tend to hate on "hiphip only being about bitches and money" while it´s actually rap that has the most incredibly lyricists out there nowadays.
"Hopsin isn´t even anywhere close to the better rappers around" dude please. Hopsin is good af, maybe he does not have much multi syllable rhymes, crazy as **** methaphores, but he is almost on point every single song. And the people you named, I like some of them, but come on, most are not better than him.
Celph Titled is my all time fav, but I don' say he is a god.
Most of them on there kill it, but I love Celph for one line;
"The manifestation of evil stays alive and breathin', I'm Satan's fitness trainer exorcising demons"
I laugh every time I hear it but it's the delivery that makes it awesome; if you haven't seen it then I definitely recommend it! www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYMNbeYPwC4
Imo, Hopsin is nowhere near the Top and every single rapper out of my list leaves him coughing in the dust in every way...but that´s just personal taste.
Still prefer my metal and electronic music, but I am sure if I spent time digging on youtube I would find a rapper that i'd enjoy listening to on a frequent basis.
Ill Bill and Necro (THE "Metal Rappers") - Ill Bill is better, Necro is more famous. They tend to rap over metal beats (White ****** or A Bullet never lies) sometimes have Metal Singers in their songs (War is my Destiny features Sepultura for example and there often are Metal or Hardcore-remixes of their Stuff (Terror-Remix for Heavy Metal Kings is incredible)
Astroid Boys - they basically make a mix out of...rap, hardcore, metal, electro and beatdown. Mostly play on Hardcore Shows, Tours and Festivals and have the same energy as bands from those genres, when on stage.
It is where it started in the sense that lyrics were by far the most crucial part, but back then that meant finding a creative way to brag about yourself and expres why you earn respect. This is still better then not having to be creative at all But instead just have a dope beat. But "nowadays" a lot of rappers find creative ways to expres deeper feelings. I like to put it this way: the very instant you vocalize a poem in rhythm,it becomes rap. If you like poetry you can't not like rap unless you hate rhythm
As a white guy who likes rap i disagree, I'll admit i think eminem is great, people just hate on him for how famous he is like the annoying hipsters they are, And i do have to say i enjoy a lot of hopsin's songs, the other rappers i think aren't that great at all.
Hi. Big rap fan and black.
Eminem goes hard, but his fan base is so cancerous it ruins eminem for everyone lately.
Macklemore is trash. No good thoughts he's just trash.
Tech n9ne is probably my favorite rapper in terms of lyrics, structure, and pretty much everything including how he treats his fanbase. (Dude loves his fans and believes in his artist)
Hopsin. Eeeeh. Hopsin is a good rapper. I'll give him that. But he's such a God damn ******* I can't even listen to him anymore. All he does is beat up on other rappers, got famous off of dissing, and just makes him annoying to listen to. "I hate horrorcore rappers but hey look who I found! SwizZz and jarred benton! (Jarren is actually a really good Mc and rapper though)" overall Hopsins personality ***** him over to his fans that aren't sworn by blood to him.
Also, obligatory Le under ground hip hop fan MF doom praise.
tech is really good. I hate his whole juggalo persona though, he does love his fans i'll agree with that. Hopsin ****** sucks, i do like everyone else on funk volume, especially jarren benton
eminem is acknowledge, even by other high profile rappers to be one of the best there is
hopsin is underground up and coming, but yeah..i think he is something of a posers pick...
tech n9ne is the king of the underground, considered to be great by just about anybody that listens to his songs
macklemore...idk he does seem like recoming of ice... but he actually raps about **** that matters and has garnered a lot of respect from people.bllack and white.
idk his personality neither, i have heard that he isnt particulary bright, and that he is rather condescending and arrogant.
outside of that, his songs have such gems like "humans are stupid and i hate them" or "obama was bred in a test tube" and other such stupid ass ******** thats really cringy to listen to...
there are varying levels of cringe mate. this definedly fills my quota for cringe.
the lyrics are both edgy and arrogant.
oh also, i did say i was going to find the obama test tube one(which i could have sworn was this one..but i guess i was wrong..) but cba to actually listen hopsin atm.... so ill come back to you if i ever get around to doing it..
Edgy, yes. Arrogant? Mmm. I don't think that's what's being portrayed. Especially when I can actually relate to a few of the verses (makes me cringy af too, I know). Can't stand the chorus of course, he says "I hate humans" one to many times, but otherwise it's fairly relatable.
the way the lyrics are constructed so that it places the singer as someone who has understood something great about humanity and how he is(despite being a human) better than the rest of humanity.as for relateability...i dont really think of it as such..but i can see where you are coming from
Hopsin has nice bars, wordplay, lyricism, and flow but he doesn't believe in fun. He got famous off dissing other rappers which is weak as **** and he pretty much belive if your lyrics aren't conscious you're **** . He drops some cringy ass lines occasionally and overall he's a pretty cringey rapper, if you **** with him hard as **** chances are you're not as open minded and wise as you'd like to think you are. Furthermore, he's not that smart, in an interview he didn't even know what 12-inch is and had a confused demanor when the interviewer asked him about **** rappers like Lil Wayne, Juicy J, and Waka Flocka Flame knew extensively when being interviewed by the same guy (nardwar). All in all, Hopsin's bascially a massive hater.
He talks down on other rappers and their fans, but gets confused when asked about a vinyl record, and he's a ******* musician you don't see the problem with that?
That was more of an example, like I said he wasn't the most knowledgable in the interview, but he claims to be so much more aware and enlightened than pretty much everyone in the music industry and their fans. That doesn't look good.
I'll agree to the fact that it sounded a lot like he's rapping on others as if he were in a high horse. But it is true all these other rappers are **** .(the ones who rap about money sex and drugs)
IT'S RAP, dissing has been a big part of it. Will always be, as if other rappers hasn't been dissing other rappers. Like lil wayne and all the other ****** ones. Negro please. I feel your favorite "rapper" is Drake.
No that's almost all he did in his first singles and he did it to get fame then even admitted that it wasn't right.
My favourties are Kendrick, J. Cole, Danny Brown, Big K.R.I.T., Yelawolf, and Lil Wayne
Thank you. Now couple that with how he tries so hard to stay relevant. I cringed so hard, when he said he was quitting rapping, and then revealed it to be a "joke" later, obviously just to gather that fat promo.
How does knowing what an object is/is called the measure of your intelligence?
Knowledge or Education are the words you are looking for.
Just because you are in a field for something doesnt mean that you know the ins and outs of everything even more so when it another name for something. If the interviewer asked him about vinyl records he could have answered it but he asked another word for it.
Your scaling is **** , and your opinion is **** if thats what your grading scale is.
********* sorry I used the wrong terminology, regardless, Hopsin is still condescending and a hater who thinks any rapper not like him is less than him.
