The template of the map. I think it's roughly 2000,2000. Each grey square represents a city/town that will be able to be looted/explored. This is a picture taken when the project first started. I don't know how to take a new grid picture like this. If I try to open it up in WP, it seems to show the areas underground. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears.

The map features a few mods. The biggest one is Custom NPCs. Custom NPCs lets you create custom NPCs(duh). You can edit these NPCs to great detail. You can change their skins(I've created a lot of custom skins for this. Over 20 zombie skins for variations), change their size/scaling, edit their health, edit their stats, make them fight, make boss fights, craete factions, make quests, create shop keepers, etc. Basically the mod gives you the ability to create a mini RPG provided you have the patience to go through with it. It even gives you a few decoratie blocks, new weapons/armor, and some Misc items that you can use when creating quests(quest items or even loot drops).

Another mod is MrCrayFish's Furniture mod. Not drastically important to the map, but it adds a nice touch for the detail. I will enable players to be able to customize their homes a bit to their liking and this mod gives more options.

Another mod is Bibliocraft. I mainly added this because it adds some useful/decorative features. The map will have tons of details and I will be placing custom books everywhere to add more backstory.

The final mod is important. Flans mod. For those of you who don't know it, Flans Mod adds a bunch of 3D modeled guns. The map features a few Flans Packs. I tried to limit which guns were on the map so there is only a hand full for each type of gun. The only explosives are a grenade launcher and an RPG which are crazy expensive to use so it will deter spamming it.

For more information about the map, check out the PMC page for more details. I have been working on this on and off for the past few months. As I'e worked on it I got more and more creative when it came to it's features.

So far I've completed one dungeon(with a pretty good amount of detail). The first dungeon is heavily based off the HIVE from the first movie. To enter this dunegon, you must first complete a mini dungeon that is in the Arklay Mansion which will then unlock an elevator to the HIVE. The mansion is not an exact replica of the game, but I took some aspects of it into consideration and just made up the rest.

If you have any questions about the project feel free to post a comment. If you would like to help me build this, I may start a small server for the sake of building it.

PMC page: www.planetminecraft.com/project/zombie-rp/

I also have another project that I'm working on for Minecraft that is re-creating Adventure Time's Land of Ooo. I will post that some time soon.

More pictures.

Most if not all of the NPCs have multiple scripted lines when you talk to them.

It may take a while. I have a lot to do before it's ready. I plan on starting a server to host the map when it's done. The whole map is pretty much based around multiplayer and teamwork.

do we have to download the mods when it's live, or can we just join the server from the get go?
User avatar #42 to #41 - wertologist [OP](09/07/2015) [-]
You'd have to download the mods. I don't think you can join a modded server without the correct mods and modloader/forge.

I'm interested in helping you build if thats alright

Good to hear, but there are a few details we need to brush up in order for you to help.
You're going to have to download every mod/file that the map uses.
Bibliocraft, Crayfish furniture, Flans(with the appropriate packs), and Faster Building(a very useful mod for building structures easily).

You will also need the textures/sound files that I put into the NPC mod.

The biggest problem would be the hosting issue. I have no job right now. I work part time helping my friend do carpentry work. I have no money to spend on a server. I have to run it off my laptop(no reported lag when my friends were on it so my pc can handle it). That means it won't be 24/7.

Do you have a Steam?
User avatar #36 to #21 - frankstein (09/07/2015) [-]
I might be able to hook you up with a friend of mine. He sometimes rents his box out $5 a month. 2gb ram, linux, hosted in chicago. I use to run an m server on it awhile ago, ran pretty well.

I may look into that offer down the line, but I don't have a job right now so I can't really spend much money. I probably have around $200 in the bank and they will charge me if I go lower than $200(I hate my ****** bank).

User avatar #37 to #35 - wertologist [OP](09/07/2015) [-]
I didn't recreate the ship from the movie. I just took a schematic of a plain old battleship and made it into a spawn base. If my memory is right, then the ship in the movie is much larger and a completely different type of boat. This ship has nothing to do with the movies. In the movies the ship was an Umbrella trap. The ship in this map has nothing to do with Umbrella and is just a safe zone for survivors. The only thing I'm taking from the movies is the HIVE.

Also, the texture pack is an edited Painterly pack. It contains mostly Painterly textures, some of my own textures, and a few from The End is Extremely Nigh(with permission of course). I'm still working on a few textures for it though.

For the most part. I had a friend make one building and another helped me learn how to use the Custom NPC mod. Pretty much I built this all by hand except for the skins(I used skincraft to make them so I didn't exactly make them by hand. Some of the skins were made by others though) and the template of the map(I used World Painter to create the first map in the first image and built off of it. If I can figure out how to get an updated map picture, I will post it. I added more areas to it.

If you like this, you may want to check out my two other projects. The Adventure Time map and a Code Lyoko(an old french cartoon) server map(it's similar to this. It is supposed to be for roleplay servers. People roleplay everyday lives then get attacked by monsters and a team will have to go to another world to stop the attacks. The world features a lot of detail and places to explore. Examples of the extreme details would be McWerts. Mcwerts sells multiple "steaks" which are all named different things like "Double Werturger", "Big Wert", and "Bacon Werturger" and almost every item will have a "lore" detail to it(a small text line under the item name to describe it. Usually featuring a humorous line).

Gonna have to put a pin in that for now. The server I'm hosting keeps crashing whenever anything is changed on the map(block placed/destroyed or even a door openning).

Since the server runs off of my laptop, I only keep it on while I play it. I'm on it at random times. I think the best way would just be to message each other on Steam and jump on whenever possible.

May I suggest adding in the Special Mobs mod then we could get some variety for the Zombies that spawn naturally?
User avatar #45 to #44 - wertologist [OP](09/07/2015) [-]
This map isn't using any vanilla mobs.
I made many custom zombie NPCs with different skins. Some have different features like added strength(if holding a weapon) or added defense(if wearing armor). If I added that mod you said, they would combat each other. That mod adds new mob types, but the NPC mobs are all a separate mob classified as "NPC". They don't ally with any mobs.
Plus, those mobs wouldn't work well with this since these zombies all have custom loot drop loadouts with percentage drops.

i dont mind it i think its an alright game but the community is small
User avatar #58 to #57 - kwanzalord (09/08/2015) [-]
There's a huge reason for that.
Trion burned so many people with their game Archeage...
essentially not delivering the content they promised, removing stuff from the pre-order package or changing stuff (basically they were liable to getting sued via a class action law suit)...so many things happened.
Most people refuse to play any trion games anymore.
User avatar #59 to #58 - kurusudarling ONLINE (09/08/2015) [-]
well they didnt do anything to me, besides trove is a free game.
User avatar #60 to #59 - kwanzalord (09/08/2015) [-]
Well, that's why you're playing. Those people that didn't get burned are playing trove.
The people that got burned don't play trove...pretty simple concept. That's why you don't have a large community there.
and it's sort of free.
User avatar #61 to #60 - kurusudarling ONLINE (09/08/2015) [-]
i just think its weird that the people who got burned write the game off in spite of past event while the people who didnt get burned just play the game

and its a free to play game, you can put money in to buy stuff from the cash shop but they dont affect the in game stuff, its mostly cosmetic
User avatar #62 to #61 - kwanzalord (09/08/2015) [-]
Well, think about it. If a company burns you (in this case, Trion lied, cheated, and stole money from players) would you still support the company by playing their other games?
You wouldn't.

I tried trove a bit when it first started, but I didn't really find a point to it...It just seemed like endless wandering and dungeon farming. what do you do exactly there?
User avatar #63 to #62 - kurusudarling ONLINE (09/08/2015) [-]
i personally would not care if they burnt me, i play games i like and judge games by in game things, i dont factor in the game companies past games. also from what i can tell archeage is free to play too, if it were subscription based and they screwed over the whole community then i get the rage but its not.

and trove is fun for me at least, there is some farming but i enjoy the building and sandbox kinda stuff, plus some of the battle get crazy in high levels,if you try it again try tomb raiser is the class i play and i find it fun skeleton war
User avatar #64 to #63 - kwanzalord (09/08/2015) [-]
Archeage is free, but it's not free at the same time.
Regardless of what people say or think, Archeage does not revolve whatsoever around pve. PvE doesn't affect much of anything in that world. You won't get money, you won't get enough items, and you won't get enough exp.
To get exp, you need to craft or do quests.
Crafting weapons and armor is a joke in that game. The chances of crafting good gear is so low, that it is far better to buy the gear from other people. But because of that, the prices of this gear is so high that most people can't afford them.

The primary means of making money is to do a "trade pack". These are done by harvesting items from the land that you own. To own land, you must have a monthly subscription. And because pve isn't really a thing in that game, there's no means for free players to make money.

So here's how Trion gets you. To own land, you need to have a monthly subscription.
So in a nutshell, to play the game, you need money. To get money, you need to pay a monthly subscription. Unlike trove, you really can not play the game without paying the monthly subscription.
User avatar #65 to #64 - kurusudarling ONLINE (09/08/2015) [-]
ive not actually played archeage so i cant say for sure but i dont think it would be impossible to get the money without th subscription, it wont be nearly as fast or easy but im sure it can be done, none the less its the players choice to spend the money on the game
User avatar #66 to #65 - kwanzalord (09/08/2015) [-]
Yea, that's where you're wrong.
Yes, it's possible to make money. But when items are 100s of gold and you can only make about 1 gold per month by farming with pve? yea...
Additionally, some good items do drop from monsters. However, these monsters are located in pvp zones. If you're a free player, you are guaranteed NOT to have any good gear. No good gear means you die instantly in pvp.

ALSO...

When people paid the pre-purchase they were offered several things:
1. guaranteed entrance into the servers (if there is a queue they just pass it)
2. guaranteed plots/land
3. certain items
4. guaranteed that certain features that failed in the Korean version of the game would not be implemented in the US version

Here's what they did:
1. Only a very small group of people were able to get into the game. There was an error with the servers (they weren't full, there were just errors with the servers)

And once this error was fixed, they didn't have a system to boot afkers so the servers would stay full and no new people would be able to get in.

So for the 1st month, more than half of the paid players could not play. Trion refused to extend their pay period even though they couldn't play.

2. Because of the initial server errors, the few people that got in first took ALL of the land/plots. They then sold the plots for extremely high prices that no one could afford.

Instead of resetting the servers due to their blunder or offering compensation to the paid players, Trion told everyone to suck it up.

3. Promised glider was different and not as good as promised. Promised cape had far lower stats. Promised boosters were fewer in numbers.

4. Implemented all features that were promised to NOT be added to the US version.

Lastly, they had SO MANY hackers in that game. One of the main hacking tools was to steal land. Basically, if people forgot to pay their taxes on their land, it would be released to the public after a certain period of time. Hackers would be able to grab the land instantly. Additionally hackers grabbed could grab multiple lands without being at the said location (you have to go to the location of the land to claim it)

Trion not only did NOT address the issue quickly, but they refused to take the plots of land away from confirmed hackers.

Then they implemented a big anti-hack patch that banned many of them. But hackers could easily ask to be unbanned and Trion would unban them even with solid proof of their hacking.

When asking for support or help from Trion, most people simply got "sorry, we're unable to do that". Only when a bunch of players came together to sue them with a class action lawsuit, did they take players seriously.

Trion basically gave a big **** YOU to the players and people left. If you read article online, you'll realize how badly they did with Archeage. it's considered one of the greatest gaming blunders ever.

So with this in mind, you want to play a game that they made? You want to play a game where they won't support players and are just looking to scam you out of money?
User avatar #67 to #66 - kurusudarling ONLINE (09/08/2015) [-]
the errors with the servers and the half of players not being able to get online is unavoidable though, if you work at a store and 10 people reserve and item and only 5 come in on the order then only the first five get the item, thats the world for you. nonethe less it sounds like a rigged game from the start but alot of the issues also seem to be caused by players and not trion itself.

besides which it may have blundered on this game but that doesnt mean all its games are bad, every game company has blundered or ****** over its players in some way. and there other games like rift which i have played are ok. so like i said you shouldnt based all a conpanies games based on the past of the company, just play the game and judge the game for what the game s and aspects of the game, not the company. and if you dont like it then dont play its simple as that.you always have a choice
User avatar #68 to #67 - kwanzalord (09/08/2015) [-]
The problem isn't with the server.
The plots of land were guaranteed to the pre-purchasers. Because of their servers, more than 85% of players didn't get this. This is a condition of purchase.
When you pre-purchase let's say some game package and it comes with some cool book or figure...you get them. They don't just say that they ran out and not give it to you. Server problems are guaranteed to happen at the beginning, but people paying for something need to get that something.

I'm not saying their games are bad. I agree, rift was pretty good.
I'm stating that Trion as a company is bad.
Even when playing rift, there were problems with how Trion addressed issues and customer support.
Archeage was the big wake up call to everyone.
User avatar #69 to #68 - kurusudarling ONLINE (09/08/2015) [-]
yes but it was the players who got online that bought up al lthe plots of land and sold them for inflated prices, thats a player cause issue not their fault, alot if you preorder the skyrim box set for example and get to the store late on the release day and they are sold out the you dont get it, you have to wait till there's more, and yes they should get the thing they paid for but the person who paid also has to be patient to get it, its first come first served thats how the world is.

and ive never had to deal with customer suppost from trion so i cant judge the quality of that, if there is an issue in the game that is causing a lot of problems ill try to resolve it myself and if i cant i just dont play. ive never had a game company reply to a support ticket or request
User avatar #70 to #69 - kwanzalord (09/08/2015) [-]
it's true it is player caused, but the company is held responsible, because they offered a service and they took money for said service.

As for the Skyrim items, you were still guaranteed to get them. The company produced more and purchasers got them.

The land issue was never resolved by Trion. Players were forced to purchase land from one another rather than Trion adding more land to remedy the situation.
