Keep calling the police as a noise complaint. I'm sure you can go to jail if you don't knock it the **** off after the cops visit you a certain amount of times.

The cops have better things to do.
User avatar #35 to #34 - demandsgayversion (04/18/2015) [-]
Do they, though? For a patrol cop in the area waiting for a crime to happen in the middle of the night, or watching for speeders, this is something. A noise complaint is the better thing to do. And it's not just 1 neighbor being affected, it's all the surrounding neighbors who would get a good night's sleep because of that cop. If that's not heroic, I don't know what is.

You better not be a little bitch and call the police like these ******* losers are telling you. Just knock on their door the next day and tell them that you work late and you'd appreciate it if they kept it down. If they're rude, you can call the police. If they're nice and keep it down, then everyone wins. If they're nice and continue being loud, go talk to them again. There's nothing scary about talking to other adults like a god damn adult. Don't listen to the children on here that lock themselves starving in their rooms when their parents have company over.

Its the ninth consecutive week. Chances are words were exchanged about the situation. If not, then yes it is his fault. If he has...the ninth consecutive week.

We're beyond more pleasant requests to keep it down at this point. This is "bang on their door as you're leaving for work at 7 in the morning the morning after" level. Perhaps even "fireworks over the balcony followed by calling the cops for 'explosives'" level.

Granted, of course, your methods have, in fact, been tried already. Politeness and gratis are a two way street, though.

You seem confident in that. Too bad its only as likely as my assumption.
User avatar #86 to #85 - toosexyforyou (04/19/2015) [-]
Did I seem confident in that? Your entire argument was based on assumption and the "chance" that he had done something you might've done in his situation. So what I said basically just **** on your whole argument. My first point didn't depend on him having done or not having done something prior to following the advice. Neither did what I say assume that the scenario would've worked smoothly if he followed the advice. Then you come in here and start this imaginary scenario thinking that you actually have a point? What a joke.
User avatar #87 to #86 - lolollo (04/19/2015) [-]
Did you even read my comment. My assumptions drew from both sides, to include yours. My comment included the idea that he would be an asshole if what you said was true, and you followed it up by reasserting what you'd already said. Where are you getting that anything I said was to try and prove anything contrary to what you said?

Actually, where did you get that my comment was trying to prove anything?

Have you tried using earplugs and a ******* loud alarm? Foam-type earplugs are uncomfortable a little at first, but if you're sleepy enough it won't stop you in the slightest from sleeping. It won't block out everything, but it'll block out a LOT.

You can also breathe a certain way to slow your heartrate and stuff.

Breathe in to a count of 3, breathe out to a count of 6, slowly. Focusing on the counting, getting the rhythm, and then focusing solely on breathing will cause you to empty your mind even of the annoyed thoughts like "oh my god shut the **** up."

A loud fan or some form of noise that isn't melodic but is constant like waves breaking on a beach would help drown out the party even more. So would creating a buffer against the vibrations, sealing doorjambs and putting padded material against walls will dampen how far from the wall the sound will travel. Hanging a thick-ass quilt against the wall towards the party either loosely or very tightly will effect the sound in various ways. I recommend loosely, since the earplugs and noise will dampen it further and then even out the rest. A little fan would work.

Earplugs tend to come out while you sleep, so your alarm should be sufficient. I'd recommend using a ******* loud alarm anyway though, just in case.
User avatar #8 to #7 - noodlechief [OP](04/18/2015) [-]
hmm i haven't tried the breathing one,i use earplugs anyway ,and man, these cunts are loud as **** i can hear them through them.
#9 to #8 - MDrDeathC (04/18/2015) [-]
Give the rest of the stuff a shot and if that doesn't work, I say "Be THAT guy" and file some sort of grievance, an anonymous noise complaint or something and try to get that **** shut down or made reasonable. Make sure it's done ENTIRELY ANONYMOUSLY though and keep it a secret so no ******* douchebags can retaliate. Mob mentality and all that.
User avatar #11 to #9 - noodlechief [OP](04/18/2015) [-]
ive got white noise set up ,may as well over it lol
#12 to #11 - MDrDeathC (04/18/2015) [-]
Yeah, good luck man. Hopefully it'll work out. The only other thing I can think of is stretching and showering right before, that way your body relaxes as much as possible and then once you have the rhythm of the breathing down, you start at the crown of your skull and work your way down relaxing each muscle group one at a time. Should be a one-two sleepytime combo and knock you right the **** out.
#71 to #7 - anon (04/19/2015) [-]
Thought you were going to advise he just plug his ears good and set the alarm off to drown them out.

I lived with two foreigners for 8 weeks. One of them was a total bitch (Izabela), the other (Andrez) was a docile cunt- he was okay but he was so woven around her finger it was unbelievable.
They stayed up playing loud music every night.
I work 0600-1800, so I'm up between 4am and 5am, or 1800-0600 so I'm sleeping until 4pm or 5pm.
I'm out of the house for 13hrs a day, and yet they chose to play music when I was home.

They then informed me they'd be having a "9pm-11pm" party one weekend (two weeks from the date they gave the note) with "5 friends" then it'd "move to [their] room", and that if we (my other house mates and I) didn't like it, our "rooms are upstairs", well I wasn't to be sent to my room like a toddler in my own damn house.
Weekend before, I got a text from upstairs housemate saying that their was a party; ****************** . Dining room trashed when I got back form work, Bitch took up a shelf in the fridge with her birthday cake we each had a shelf, she was taking up another housemate's shelf- she also had a habit of looking through cupboards that weren't hers a using the space at her leisure.

I'd already cancelled a shift for the "party" weekend, so I could stay home (bunch of strangers having free reign of my house and property? No). Sat at the dining room table having a drink with two friends and housemate. 9pm- she's in her PJs, no house party tonight. Guess she had it last weekend afterall? Went out at about 10pm, had a good night with the housemates that weren't cunts.

Next night (Sunday) I wen tot bed early because I had a 6am Monday shifts. ******* only went and had their party then. 11.40pm. 10 or so guests. Not in their room.
Sent another housemate down to tell them to turn the music down (else I would have probably glassed a fair few of them, starting is cuntabela. Sleep deprivation does awful things to a person). A guest, and actual guest said to him (when the housemate asked Andrez to turn the music down) "why, are you in work tomorrow?".

And that's how I discovered my racist streak, and my possissiveness over my property.
