Metal Gurr Webm Comp

Since my last post of the ******** horse mechanic was surprisingly well received, I decided to make a comp of other webms for Metal Gear. I'll probably make a couple more comps in preparation for the release of Phantom Pain.

The more I see of Metal Gear... the less i think of it as a combat/stealth game and more of a comedy game.....
User avatar #109 to #8 - yellowcardraiden (08/12/2015) [-]
The gameplay for the newest one looks tight as ******* ever, being silly at times, but the story is going to most likely be like spec ops the line, which is pretty much every other metal gear.
User avatar #145 to #8 - spoopyskeleton (08/12/2015) [-]
It can be what you want it to be really. You can play high intense stealth, or just run and gun. Comedy can be found everywhere though, and the amount of secrets and Easter eggs these games have are unreal.
User avatar #25 to #8 - sharknik ONLINE (08/11/2015) [-]
It is quite effectively both.

You're really seeing a highlight reel of some of the sillier moments, but MG is kind of like one big Japanese joke on American action movies
#37 to #8 - pentol (08/12/2015) [-]
Kojima stated in interview that the stealth and combat get strenuous and tense, so he always put humor in the game in order to relieve that tension. i think that unlike what sharknik says, MGS is a love letter to action movies, but with kojima's own twist on it.
User avatar #24 to #8 - neokun (08/11/2015) [-]
MGS has some depressing tear jerking moments and then you see guards getting excited over porn mags.

That speed run webm made me think of this one. It's the best run of the final level of Dishonored. This sucker just wrecks everything put in front of him.

it says "StealthGamer BR" on lower right corner of the video. try that

I had to save the webm solely because I couldn't find the source myself sadly. I'd suggest just saving that webm for all its beauty.

It is indeed Aura from Overlord
User avatar #169 to #168 - tenfinnvo (08/12/2015) [-]
Yeah, I got it. It took me some time to figure it out since i only read the novel, but she already looked familiar from the illustrations.
User avatar #170 to #169 - kinginthenorth (08/12/2015) [-]
I'll only start reading the novel once they get up to date with their translations. The first volume was already a pain in the ass to read, so i'm holding off on the rest until it's done.
User avatar #171 to #170 - tenfinnvo (08/12/2015) [-]
I just got into a novel-reading streak after finishing Mushoku Tensei. It's basically all i've been doing the last couple o' months.
User avatar #172 to #171 - kinginthenorth (08/12/2015) [-]
Well, i guess when you're in the mood for it, it reads a lot easier. But i'm generally used to reading stories in book form or on a tablet (only read Game of Thrones like that on vacation).

Oh thank **** for that, I was worried for a moment.
User avatar #130 to #129 - blindpone (08/12/2015) [-]
I hate forced PvP, and seeing as Metal Gear hasn't usually been an online game, I'd be surprised if it wasn't optional.
User avatar #132 to #130 - bewailedbadger (08/12/2015) [-]
True. I hope there's like, a cooperative option though. It'd be fun to play with friends.
User avatar #133 to #132 - blindpone (08/12/2015) [-]
After coming off peace walker, I'd almost beg for co-op missions that aren't MGO
User avatar #134 to #133 - bewailedbadger (08/12/2015) [-]
Sadly, I never got to experience the PW coop. Was it any good?
User avatar #135 to #134 - blindpone (08/12/2015) [-]
It's awesome if you play it with someone you can talk to all a time.
User avatar #139 to #135 - bewailedbadger (08/12/2015) [-]
Hrm, I'll have to look into it, then.
User avatar #85 to #69 - bewailedbadger (08/12/2015) [-]
I dunno, though, man. Quiet can shoot your grenades out of the air so they go to places behind cover. She can shoot with you so that her shot removes their helmet and yours kills them.
User avatar #88 to #85 - blindpone (08/12/2015) [-]
Bros before hoes.
User avatar #89 to #88 - bewailedbadger (08/12/2015) [-]
But from a utility point, though.
User avatar #92 to #89 - blindpone (08/12/2015) [-]
Well, on a stealth run DD would be a lot better, he marks all the enemies in the area. Quiet's skills are more lethal and are better for a different run.
User avatar #119 to #92 - kyubii (08/12/2015) [-]
Quiet can be equipped with a tranq rifle also. It had a different name than her standard Wicked Butterfly rifle.
User avatar #94 to #92 - bewailedbadger (08/12/2015) [-]
Quiet can be set to a stealth mode, however. Not to mention if you get her to shoot first you can de-helmet people to tranq 'em. It really depends on your playstyle, personally I like knowing that because Quiet is so far away, I won't get detected because of her. Not sure if DD would give the same luxury.
User avatar #96 to #94 - blindpone (08/12/2015) [-]
I think you can tell him to hide. Either way, I can't wait for it to come out.
User avatar #98 to #96 - bewailedbadger (08/12/2015) [-]
I know, I'm so hyped man. ONLY TWENTY DAYS REMAINING.
#99 to #98 - blindpone (08/12/2015) [-]
I've been itching to get it as soon as I knew it was coming out. I recently went through the whole series again, and I might again just because.
#102 to #99 - bewailedbadger (08/12/2015) [-]
I plan to actually play all the MGS games in chronological order this time around. I'll finally get around to beating MGSV, then I'll play through Peacewalker (Skipping a few missions because I honestly fluked them, my R&D team was too weak to properly beat the Peacewalker fights, and **** that overly difficult torture segment), then hit up Ground Zeroes, Phantom Pain, MGS1, MGS2, MGS4 (Skipping Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2)
User avatar #103 to #102 - blindpone (08/12/2015) [-]
Do it, it never gets old.
User avatar #105 to #103 - bewailedbadger (08/12/2015) [-]
I shall. I just need to try and stream MGS3 for my friend. She wanted to watch me play it.
User avatar #108 to #105 - blindpone (08/12/2015) [-]
You can pick up capture cards for relatively cheap these days.
User avatar #110 to #108 - bewailedbadger (08/12/2015) [-]
Don't own a copy of it/a PS2. I got just past the torture segment on my last emulated playthrough and then it borked and deleted my saves.
User avatar #112 to #110 - blindpone (08/12/2015) [-]
Ohh, yeah dude, always back up your saves with emulators. I got the legacy collection for the PS3 so I didn't get that.

I'm getting MGS5 on my PC tho, I need to see Kojima's swan song in the quality it deserves.
User avatar #113 to #112 - bewailedbadger (08/12/2015) [-]
My PS3 (it was classified as the family one) was taken by my mother who played games maybe one three hour session every two months when she moved two states away, so I sadly lack a PS3 to do that.

But yeah, I'm getting it on PC as well, though. Ground Zeroes was an excellent port, and I'm confident that they can do Phantom Pain justice.
User avatar #115 to #113 - blindpone (08/12/2015) [-]
That just sucks :/

Yeah, it was surprising how good it was, I'm going to dump so many hours into PP.
User avatar #126 to #115 - bewailedbadger (08/12/2015) [-]
Yeah, man. I'm going to play the **** out of PP. I just really hope the PvP isn't enforced. I want to build my base up for personal enjoyment/bragging rights, not have to worry about some other player sneaking in and stealing my **** .
User avatar #127 to #126 - blindpone (08/12/2015) [-]
Yeah, it's optional.
User avatar #157 to #69 - neokun (08/12/2015) [-]
You're saying Quiet sucks? Have you seen that she can shoot your grenade mid air to change its trajectory?
