If you did have a mental illness, trying to talk about it (for most people) would be incredibly difficult

Had a friend who thought he was a complete psychopath because he watched an episode of Hannibal and liked the character Hannibal.

I reminded him he cried at the end of Bioshock Infinite and he hasn't talked to me for a few months.

In high school this stupid bitch constantly claimed she was bipolar and had multiple personalities. Pissed me off so much because my mom actually does have bipolar disorder and I've seen an episode. It's not pretty and not fun watching a loved one go from completely normal one day to manically depressed, paranoid, and refusing to eat, drink, or talk the next day. It's scary as hell and I hope it's not something I inherited. My brother was away at college at the time and she had to go to a mental facility for a month to figure it out. Strangest month of my life by far. Just me and my dad at home......I wouldn't have my friends over and I didn't really want to do anything. And ever since I get freaked out any time I start feeling depressed or paranoid about anything.

Her episode was brought on by stress, and since then I've made a conscious effort to not let myself be worried about **** . Smoking pot helps a lot.

People keep using "autism" or "aspergers" to say they're smart.
The reality is, it doesn't directly make you smart.
It just makes you have a harder time socializing, so you avoid it, you find a hobby you get obsessed with, and spend a ******** of time studying.

If you lock a guy in a room with books/internet and nobody to talk to, of ******* COURSE he's gonna get good at SOMETHING.

However, the process is kindof painful to be honest. Adapting to neurotypical communication, and using commonly spoken vocabulary can be hard. It's like being an alien from planet Vulcan.

It is a pain in the ass because then you can't read people's emotions or facial expressions, cannot draw faces well, cannot empathize with neurotypicals, and you tend to find a lot of "Human" behavior illogical and senseless because it often has no practical meaning.

It's even a plague when talking to neurotypical women and trying to get dates.
I got lucky that I found one of my own species with whom I can mate with,
but damn it that took me 21 years to find! Of course, I never knew of such a thing as a "friendzone" so it never bothered me when I was accepted as a friend because I acknowledged that I was not psychologically compatible, and possibly physically incompatible.

That's fine, that's what the "girlfriend-boyfriend" system is for, to test human interactions with the opposite sex and investigating long-term possibilities later on.

Remember Nikola Tesla?
Some famous ******* named Thomas Edison took credit for his work,
and Nik never lived to see the future created with his technology.

Being an autist/sperg is no glamourous road.
And having idiots labelling themselves as aspies/autists only makes the rest of us look bad, and people will think we're dumb assholes with hats and unshaven necks.

Thanks to these useless cunts, now the term "autism" is associated with idiotic overweight morons with poor hygene, arrogant attitudes, and unfashionable mismatched triblys improperly named "Fedoras".

Legitimate mental problems suck ass. It's not glamorous or romantic at all. It's a ****** way to go through life. Your motivation for anything is gone, so all you do is sleep. You constantly feel like you're about to break down. You can't hold commitments. Forget about relationships, you're too emotionally unstable to support someone. No casual intimacy either, your cock stopped working a long time ago. Your low enthusiasm and constant bad mood has marked you as "an asshole", and your friends start to prefer someone else's company.

It takes all your energy just to get through the day. Time blends together and one day you realize it's been years. You have accomplished nothing of value. You're a loser in the eyes of society. You're unemployed, you're living at home, you have zero prospects for the future, and you have no friends. You've clawed and cried your way through years of misery and everyone you know thinks your a disappointment.

You go online and see thousands of people ******* BRAGGING that they are depressed, and it makes you want to scream.

This is why hearing every little emo/scene kid in high school go on about how they had anxiety or depression really just irked me.

I really wish I never had to deal with anxiety or depression. I overcame them for the most part, anyone who has experience with them knows theres always a chance that they'll surface again every blue moon and it was an ordeal. It wasn't fun, it wasn't enigmatic or romantic. It was a day to day struggle not to just keep moving and going through the motions until it wasn't just faking it anymore. I did it without medication or therapy, which may have been good or bad, but mainly because I wasn't willing to admit that I needed professional help. I felt there was a big stigma with that but if I had known it would've made me deep and mysterious and all that ******** maybe I would've had an easier time with.

as a side note I feel like tumblr started as a way for all these extremist and whiny people to secretly share these horrible personalities of theirs with others and somewhere along the lines they just let all that out into the real world and here we are.

I have Tourette Syndrome. Don't have coprolalia though, so it's somewhat easier to hide. I just twitch and make some low guttural noises. Tourette's jokes are funny and all, I just hate that nobody knows really anything about it. They've just seen that one South Park episode about it and think they're experts on the subject, when it's a disorder that goes hand in hand with OCD, ADHD, and depression (all of which I've also had throughout my life). It's a neuropsychiatric disorder that is hardly understood by anyone. They don't even know what causes it, or even what gene it's attached to. I know this is a "cool story, bro" but I figured I'd educate the few of you who take the time to read this, at least.

As much as I usually hate tumblr rants because they're usually ignorant, this is very true. I can already see a rise in claims of depression and suicides since Robin Williams' death.

The **** is wrong with tumblr.

This is like me going around yelling at people "Fire will burn you, fire is hot, do not take fire as a joke"

Obviously normal people realize that mental illnesses are illnesses and not something to take lightly.

As someone who suffers from a MENTAL ILLNESS, I should know.
User avatar #184 to #183 - guanyu (08/16/2014) [-]
If mental illnesses were fire, tumblrites would be pyromaniacs.
