If we have a chance of making something slightly more convenient, there's nothing wrong with doing it. What if someone had said "electronic mail? How lazy can people get that they can't spend time writing and sending letters?"

I don't know where you live, but in my country, winters are extremly cold, and then when you have to zip your jacket while your fingers are numb with cold and it can be extremly irritating.

Once the end that you insert into the zipper gets worn they sure are. This would prevent that and make it possible to do one-handed zipping.
